Club Wedd Registry at Target

I was wondering if you ladies had any feedback on using the wedding registry at Target.  I've read some pretty bad reviews about their return policies, website, and pricing problems.  My fiance and I actually already registered there already but I wasn't overly impressed - especially with their website.  The registry isn't organized at all and the site isn't very user friendly.  Not to mention that I couldn't track down their actual return policies for registries anywhere in detail (not even in the info packet they provide you!). I am thinking about just cancelling the registery and going somewhere else.  Any recommendations and/or warnings about registering? Thanks!

Re: Club Wedd Registry at Target

  • I registered with Target and was registered during their site re-do which was a disaster. The website isn't great but other than that I didn't really have any other issues. I kept my registry because its Target and I knew most of my guests would buy from there over Macys or or BB&B. I was right too because I got most of my target registry purchased and tons of Target GCs.

  • I registered at Target and haven't had any problems yet.
My shower is at the end of this month, so I haven't had to return anything, but I'm hoping it all goes smoothly and I don't have to return anything.

  • I've heard about their website being finicky about letting you make changes to a registry, like taking things off or adding them on.

We've already registered (since our original date was June 2012) with Crate & Barrel and Macy's. Their sites make it SO easy to make changes and haven't had any issues. Plus, both stores offer a ton of registry incentives too.

  • This is what I found on this website (http://www.starlightregistry.com/blog_post.asp?title=which-department-store-wedding-registry-is-the-best?#target):

    No gift reciept:
    2 no-receipt returns per 12 month period
If the value of the item is over $20 then you cannot return the item without a receipt, not even for store credit

    Gift reciept:
90 days from when the item was PURCHASED, not your wedding day.  So anything purchased 90+ days before your wedding is non-returnable, not even for store credit.

Um, that sucks.  I was planning on registering with Target as well so I am going to check with a friend who works at corporate and see if he can confirm or deny the above.
  • Like MuSu, we had our registry up when they did the site re-do. We didn't experience any problems, minus having some baby items magically appear on our registry. (That would have been a little confusing for people!) Even with that, we decided to keep our registry there.

We didn't have to return anything we received from our showers/wedding gifts, so we didn't have any issues there. I'm glad we kept our registry, because I would say 80% of our gifts came from there!
  • We didn't have any problem with ours. When you make a return, though, I believe that you need to have a printout of your registry list so that they can verify. I seem to remember having to do that when we took back an item.

  • I work for the website...return policy is extremely easy, as long as you aren't one of those people who say, oh I got married a year ago - why can't I return this?  You pick your registry date and you have 90 days from your wedding date to make any returns. As long as the item is on your registry, you'll get a giftcard in that amount.  If it's NOT on your registry, and you don't have a receipt, you can only receive $70.00 on a giftcard per year.  If you have gift receipts - you are golden.  You will only receive giftcards though, don't expect cash.

I wouldn't worry about the registry - most people will go here to shop for you. The website does load slowly, but it's very easy to make a purchase.  Plus - anything you don't get purchased for you - you get a coupon for 10% off any items on your registry that you didn't receive as gifts.  I believe it is a one time use only coupon though.

We had some baby items on ours too after we registered. Good thing I checked it afterwards at home, lol.

  • You can also call target.com 24hrs/7days a week for any questions about registry items, returns or deletions.  I recently created a registry there and while it is a bit slower than other websites, I found calling them was a helpful in answering a few questions I had about returns.
