Chair Covers & Sashes

Has anyone thought about purchasing chair covers and sashes on their own to try to save money?

Would anyone be interested in going in halves on these??  I'm looking at 150 chair covers and would like silver satin sashes.

I would like to strangle FI right now.  The reception site quoted us $3.50/ea. I found them for $1.75/ea but the vendor said it's an hour drive for her and would charge a 1 time flat fee of $50 for gas.  FI says "that adds $0.33 to the price each" so then he suggests that I make them.  REALLY?! He is very frugal (can you tell?!?)

Who did you call to rent from?
    Edit:
I used Couture Chair Collection. They are in Macomb, Sterling Heights or some where near there. They charged me $1.75 for chair cover and sashes, and $40 for delivery to Novi. They were really nice to work with and they got back to my emails usually within a day. Plus everything looked really beautiful.

I sent them an email and they replied that they would not drive to my venue because of the distance (Westland). I was really surprised.

I replied to them thank you and that I was recommended to them from another bride via The Knot.com website

I have called Sposa Seating. She quoted me $1.75 each for chair cover, sash, set up and tear down plus the $50 gas fee.

I used MPE Events in Livonia.  I'm sure they'll go to Westland since it is so close (they did mine in Plymouth).  They had good prices when I booked them a year ago.

<div>That sounds really strange to me. Did they say they just wouldn't drive there or did they have other weddings booked on your day? Westland isn't that far from Novi. Boo.</div>

Check out All About Elegance (allaboutelegance.net)... that's where I got mine from.  I got mine on special for $1.50 each.  And Kristy was great to work with!

Anyway, I think you'd be way better off renting than buying, even if renting was slightly more expensive.  It is WAY worth it to have a someone put them on... and you know those people know what they're doing!

The email I received says this:

    "Hi Kayla,

Thank you so much for contacting us regarding chair covers and linens! We truly appreciate it.

Unfortunately, Westland is quite a drive for us. We have several events that we book in our local area and it would be very risky to book a more distant wedding. We hope you understand and wish you all the best in your planning!

    Warmest Regards"

I have called All About Elegance. She does not have the silver satin sashes.  She only offers silver organza.  When FI & I saw Organza they just blend in, don't really pop with the white chair covers.

I will check into MPE.  And maybe it's possible to rent through All About Elegance and then buy my sashes myself??

    Aww, sorry.
In that case I also have to second MPE. I didn't use them for chair cover, but I did for other decor and lighting. They were a little pricy, but they are a bigger company and they are really great to work with.

Side Note: I also have a very frugal DH.

OK, MPE is out of their minds with their prices.

We're using Affordable Elegance from Troy-- http://www.aecclinens.com/index.php?splash=1

We are paying $4.50 per person for any table linen, any chair cover and any napkin. We are going satin for all of that and they will have silver chair covers after October. We thought about buying ours as well, but it was still more expensive than renting. A friend of ours used http://www.linentablecloth.com/ and everything they ordered was correct and looked great.

    Good Luck!

I'm using Sittin Pretty Chair Covers in Allen Park. Two women do it out of their home, so it's usually a pretty good deal. I believe we payed $2 a chair including setup/teardown.

I'm using Sposa Seating... they are the cheapest I found around.  It is a lot to swallow to pay $1.75 for a chair cover (+50 gas) but my hall was charging $3.75 so it seemed like a great deal in comparison.  It all comes down to how important they are to you.

Also, be careful - set up and tear down was VERY important to me - make sure that is included in the cost because sometimes its a heck of a lot more (i.e. with MPE events they wanted to charge me an arm and a leg to set up/tear down)

Yes, Sposa does seem to be the cheapest.  Maya is even willing to compare prices with another vendor for silver chargers.

I will either committ to Maya or just do without.

FI has to know that we are getting a great deal, I've told him what everyone is charging.  He still thinks we can get them cheaper but he's out of his gourd.

    Thanks ladies!!

We are buying our chair covers from another knottie.  But they are black, so i'm not sure that fits your colors.  We will be gettng 225 chair covers and will sell them after 3/18/11.  I do not believe they had a sash.

    Thanks Jen!

No, I'm sorry Mel.  My colors are Navy blue and silver.  I'm looking for white chair covers and silver satin sashes.

Thank you for the offer and thinking of me though! :)

I'm surprised their prices are high.  They were really good prices when I book them for my wedding in May.  But....maybe it was because I used them for a lot of things, i.e. all linens, all lighting, chairs, etc.

We are using Glamorous Elegance. She works from Southfield. It was $1 for the cover AND sash. We had an extra $40 travel fee because our reception is in FLat ROck, so that was kind of a long drive. I know she has white, black, and ivory. She didnt have ivory when I first contacted her, but then her shipment was coming in early and she emailed me back to let me know. She also sent me a sampe chair cover to take to the hall and match with the table linens. Best price I found!

    Melanie,
She quoted me $3.00 per chair cover, plus $0.75 each for labor, and then she started talking about a late night pick up fee so I just stopped her there and said thank you.

I would look into Ele3 events if you're looking for any other services as well! When they quoted their chair cover/sashes/set-up price alone it didn't compete too well with what you guys have been quoting here but they created a custom package for me including DOC services and a few other custom things that made the combo price IMPOSSIBLE to turn down.

Plus, you get more than one planner to work with and the ladies are so much fun!

    Good luck!

<div>When I went in for my first quote, for everything, they wanted $3.00 per chair cover. I told them thank you. "You can do the decor and lighting. I'll find chair covers else where". The girl didn't seemed surprised I did this. But they're still a really good company.</div>

I called Glamorous Elegance! She quoted me $1.00 per chair cover and sash and she's giving me a discount on silver chargers.  She's sending me a sample in the mail today.

Thank you so much for the recommendation Kat!!!!

I may use her for other services as well.

I definitely did not pay $3 per chair cover.  The chairs I rented, covers/sash, and the lighting were all at really good prices.  The only thing that I found to be incredibly pricey was my table cloth choice, and I price shopped it around and couldn't find it any cheaper elsewhere (most people didn't even carry it at all).
