OOT Bride Trip Planned to New Orleans Need Advice of Vendors!!!

I am leaving for New Orleans on June 28th and will be visiting family for a week!  I can't wait but I am planning my wedding in less than a year and need some advice of vendors.  We are getting married on a Friday, April 5, 2013 at the New Orleans Cathedral and I my reception site within walking distance.  I want the New Orleans feel and not so much corporate resturant feel.  There will be approximately 100 guests and half will be from OOT.  I am on a pretty tight budget of l$15,000 including the Cathedral.  I want to meet with a photographer and the two I have in mind are Lauren Carrol and Ardent Studio.  I do want to look into a videographer and 2nd line band.  The cake isn't that important to me but I do need one though :) Please let me know of any ideas you have!  Thanks so much for your help!  Reading all the posts on here have been so helpful!

  • The Riverview Room is within walking distance and is not a restaurant. The prices are resonable considering it's location in the French Quarter on the River. The Omni Royal is also nice, but I think it will be not as budget friendly, but you can double check what their Friday night food and beverage minimum is. I am not sure what your budget is for your other items, but I am using Megan Foucheaux with cakedesignsby meg for my cake and she is doing a wedding cake and grooms cake for $500, and her desserts are amazing. There seem to be a lot of good cake reviews here about swiss confectionery.
  • The most budget friendly band for your second line is Dr Jazz at around 500. We didn't use them so I have no review, but that's the cheapest posted here. Keep in mind you will need a permit and police escort totaling 350. Tim at Ardent is amazing and worth the money, his price starts at 2995. Cafe Amelie might be an option, I'm not sure if they can accommodate 100, but they have a nice courtyard.
  • The riverview room has a 125 person minimum (but as long as you pay for that many you can have as few as you want) but it comes to $11,000 I believe including tax and tip....the Cathedral is $2500, plus usually $150 at your local church for premarital counseling and $250 priest stipend (if they provide one for you) so that would put you at $14,000 before you look at other vendors...might be too tight depending on what else you want Omni is definitely more, some people have recieved a lower minimum at the bourbon orleans depending on time of year, but the lowest I got them was 9k, so with tax and gratuity like 11,600 I think.  That hotel is right behind the cathedral.  You may look into Pat O's on the river, I think they may be affordable?
  • I would check out the Federal Ballroom or the Wax Museum.
