Just wanted to share my experience this evening, reminding me why 20-something guys can be so damn frustrating...
So, I was doing some shopping at the local mall tonight (bought gifts for the Knottie gift exchange - yay!)... and went to have dinner at one of the restaurants in the mall where my brother is a bartender... sat at the bar (solo - FI is working tonight and then taking his sis out to dinner for her bday, so I was on my own.. no biggie)... brother was working with another bartender (female)...
Soon after I sat, a group of 4 guys (mid-20's) sat to my left... 3 down to my right (the bar curves, so kind of diagonal from me) were a group of 3 girls (probably mid-20's as well)... As soon as the guys sat, the comments started... One guy was standing, and the other guys asked if he wanted to sit.. he replied "No, I like my view from here"... they proceeded to analyze the 3 girls for the next 5-10 minutes... decided the girl in the middle was the hottest... they all wanted her... but, as one guy commented, "we'll let them decide who they want" (*eye roll*)... finally, they decided to order 7 shots... and asked the bartender (not my brother) to give the extra 3 shots (pineapple upside down shots) to the 3 girls... they politely said thank you, but then said "cheers" to the guys.. and one of them said "come here so we can cheers with you!" - clear invitation (though I dunno why - the guys weren't cute, and from my 5 minutes of exposure, were completely obnoxious)...
their response? "No you girls come over here and say cheers" .........really? all that work and debate over who gets who.. you get an invitation to join them and you act like a hard-to-get ass??? ....so, annoyed at this point, I turned to the nearest guy and said "seriously? they're inviting you over there. GO." ...one guy went over for the "Cheers" and the rest followed within a few minutes...
...but even after that, the guys ended up stealing the girls' seats (2 of the 3.. not the "hot" one).... the girls were flirting too, so it seemed everyone was happy with the arrangement... but it just made me annoyed... guys objectify girls SO much... and basically want them handed to them on a silver platter w/ such minimal effort.....
This reminded me of how thoughtful and sweet FI is... and how thankful I am to have a guy who isn't a total idiot. ...Just wanted to share!
