Do any colors on invitations usually represent the wedding colors?  I am most likely going to get the DIY kits from Michael's and since my mom is contributing to the wedding I am of course asking her if she would ilke to be part of picking out invites.  Michael's has limited designs and colors and I am already imagining her going off on how the invites have to match the wedding colors.......and for what it's worth I am not even sure if I even have wedding colors.  My BM's are wearing blue dresses from david's bridal (don't remember exact shade) but I haven't picked any sort of second or third shade for other things and I didn't really plan to......

    Yeah, for the most part the invites tell you about the wedding. Casual invites? Casual wedding. Beachy invites? Beach wedding. Blue invites? Blue for the wedding colors. It's actually closely enough tied that some people try NOT to wear whatever color is on the wedding invite as they assume the wedding party will be wearing it and they don't want to end up looking like they're wedding party.

    I generally try to avoid wearing the colors used in the invitation, because I figure that's what the bridesmaids will be wearing.  I think it's more important for the invitations to reflect the formality of the wedding than the colors, though.

    I definitely agree about formality of invite = formality of wedding. In terms of color, well, yes, I'd generally assume that the color of the invites is related to the color scheme of the wedding -- though maybe not exactly.  It'd be a little surprising if your invitations were bright orange and then I get to your wedding and everything is blush pinks and creams. KWIM?

    There isn't any rule saying the invitations have to match the wedding colors, but generally, they do.  I would say of the past five weddings I have attended, the invitations have matched the wedding color.

    I was at michael's today and the only invites they had with blue had these weird looking love birds on them that I did not like.  So I was thinking of just white ones with no color.  I might still look into vistaprint, but I currently have no coupons from them and I've got about 5 from Michaels ranging from 40-50% off which was why I was going to look there first.

    I signed up to receive the sample bridal kit so hopefully I'll start getting coupons.  I also found another website, 123print.com and when ordering invites you get free envelopes!  The pattern I liked would cost between $108-$132 depending on paper stock for 200 invitations.  If anyone has any knowledge or experience with 123print.com I'd love to hear about it.

They also allow you samples for invites, so feel free to order one yourself and take a look at it (and they tend to have 15 - 20% off coupons floating around so look for those online) They won't be anything too fancy, but they look very nice and are good quality in my personal opinion (and color doesn't cost more from what I remember...)</div>

    I had the same problems finding blue invitations! Just wanted to chime in and tell you I found a great kit at target. It's a pretty light blue color and I believe it's by gartner studios. Hope that helps somewhat!

    I just ordered 3 free samples of different patters in the different paper stocks.  They also already emailed me a 20% coupon.  I am thinking this website is definitely going to be the best deal.  Do you know if you got coupons frequently?  I have a while before invites need to go out, so I am thinking I can order stuff in batches (1 round of invitations, 1 round of response cards, 1 round of inserts for directions/hotel info) and hopefully apply a coupon each time.

    I went to a wedding last year where we received a very pretty and formal looking invitation suite in a pretty and elegant black and white pattern with red touches. It was a very glamorous looking one, and I thought that was how the wedding would be since it was an evening wedding at a yaht club. I also assumed that to be their color scheme. Well, the bridesmaids dresses ended up being apple green and the reception was decorated in greens and an outdoorsy feel, with vines and moss stuff on the table and birdcage centerpieces. It was ok, but I was super confused!

    <div>This is what I think too.  We just bought ours- our colors are blush pink, gray, and ivory.  The invites are ivory (ecru) and gray, no pink at all.  The wedding is more formal, so the invites are more formal- I always assumed that was the only requirement for an invite.</div>

    <div>Every time you get something from them, they send a "thank you for your order, you can use this on your next one" coupon in my experience, so keep track of those and you should be able to keep using them.</div>

    I generally take color cues from the invite as well. We received an invitation once that was white with brown and orange, I attened in a red and black dress, and wouldn't ya know it, the wedding colors were red and black. It didn't ruin my evening, but I did wonder if anyone would be looking at me funny. Especially since I was the spouse of the best man.

    Have you checked the David's Bridal site?  I got mine through them.  150 invitations with lined inner envelopes, response cards, and a separate reception card.  We paid a little over $200.  I ordered a sample and it came with a coupon for the order when it arrived.  And they had about 1000 options.  Granted, I kept mine simple, black and white, no bows, etc...but it may be worth checking.

    You could also print them with a navy or royal blue ink, or add an embellishment, like a ribbon, to plain white invitations.
