Wedding gifts for xmas...

MIL said the other day, "I'm all done shopping for you guys! I just got a bunch of stuff off your wedding registry."

First off, we didn't really want anything for xmas, but they insisted. Ok fine and thank you. We also didn't create a large registry because we weren't really expecting any gifts for the wedding. So now I have to add more items since we are nowhere near the date of the wedding. And to top it off, we don't really need anything to begin with and just created the registry to appease those who preferred to get a gift for us.

I appreciate her thinking of us, but man, this actually created more work for me! LOL

My mom was like that when I got married the first time. She made it her personal mission to buy every last piece and setting for our china set which was used maybe 1x a year and then I sold it on Craigslist. LOL!

  • Lol figures!
My situation is the opposite. My FMIL has no clue about what to get us and the thought of our registy is not somethign that has crossed her mind. I really don't care about getting gifts, but it is a huge deal to her.

  • My mom can't seem to figure out our Menards registry.  Apparently the item descriptions were too confusing for her.  So, I registered for an air bed at Target, and then it went on sale on Sunday, and lo and behold, it's the only item purchased off our registry.  Gee, wonder what I'm getting for Christmas.  Smile

I'm actually kinda hoping that my FIL's use our registry for Christmas gift ideas.  They always way over-buy stuff for us, but my FMIL seemed rather excited to have a registry to work off of.
  • It'd be awesome if people did the same for us, but definitely not expecting it!

Planning Bio-Added FOR SALE page, will be adding more stuff to it soon!
  • My mom and FMIL both did this for us. We didn't want anything for christmas (except I asked my mom to send some christmas cookies my way). But they both got stuff off our registry. I think it's fairly commonn for people to gift off of your registry just because that way they have a list of things.

  • I already did Christmas with my FI's family since I'll work Christmas Eve (unless the whole job hunting thing works out).  His grandmother got us two things off our registry, and I loved it.  We're basically starting out with nothing so getting stuff off the registry for Christmas is awesome.

I'm hoping other people do the same, but if not it's not a big deal.

  • I could have written this exact post. We got nine of the big ticket items off our registry for xmas! NINE! In my family, that's a decade's worth of xmas and birthday gifts!

  • I wish my family had thought of the registry!

  • I might just have to convince FI to finish it sooner lol! Its a great idea for people who don't know what to get you? Especially since most of the things i currently want are for the wedding and i cant ask for that lol!
