Event home fee

Hello ladies!

I posted a question last week regarding rental homes and event fees. I am having a very small wedding (no more than 25 ppl). I am concerned about paying a huge event fee for such a small group. A couple of you responded that you also had very small weddings as well and said that you advised the rental company that you would be holding a small wedding and they did not charge a fee. Which rental companies did you all go through? Thanks for your help!!!

I know with Village Realty, they told us as long as the party isn't more than the house max occupancy there wouldn't be a charge. I am sure if you call and explain to them the situation and you aren't having tons of people they wouldn't charge you the fee. They were really nice to work with.
FI and I even took a trip last month and called ahead to them bc we wanted to check out the house we had rented. They gave us to code and in we went! They were very cooperate and helpful.

Typically the event fee is to cover any liability and insurance problems....like if a guest was drinking and driving once they left or if the house was trashed upon check-out, etc.

They don't charge an event fee as long as the entire wedding party and guests doesn't exceed the amount of people that can sleep in the house.  So if your house only sleeps 24, then you need to make sure your wedding party and guests is under 24.  Make sure you stick to this b/c the last thing you want on your wedding day is your Mgmt. company discovering you are having a large wedding and then hit you for event fees and additional deposits.

I agree with these ladies.  But definitely make sure that the rental company is okay with it.  I am renting my home through Resort Realty and they will enforce the event fee even if you do not fill the house to the occupancy limit.  I am renting a home that sleeps 28 and when I mentioned that I would only have 15 people at my wedding, they still wanted to enforce the $2500 event fee.  However, I have decided not to have my wedding at the house and my reception is being held back home in PA, so I was able to avoid the fee.
