Embroidered/Sewing on shoes

HI ladies,
I want to wear these TOMS shoes for my reception:

I want to get them embroidered (is that the word??) with our names and the date. I love the look of these shoes and they would be a fun keepsake!
Any ideas on where to get this done? Should I just look for a random seamstress? Or would a place like Hobby Lobby or another crafty store offer a service like this?

Maybe check out Etsy?  I did a search for "embroidered toms" and some relevant items came up.  Some are obviously completely unrelated, but it might be worth checking out...

  • I know the mall near us has a kiosk that does embroidery.  Also, there is a local gift shop/monogramming store here that does it.  Maybe there is something similar near you?

  • Do you have a store that sells linens?  As in a boutique?  They'll know if you don't know where there's a monogram shop.

This is all I can think of, really, and it's possible they would also only embroider something you actually purchased from them.  My thought is to see if they can do something like quilting squares, that you could cut and sew onto the shoes yourself.

Good luck though, that's a really cute & sweet idea!

  • I bought my sister beach towels last year for her shower present and got "Mr." and "Mrs." embroidered on them from the kiosk in the mall.  They didn't mind at all that I didn't purchase it there.

Also, if you have a "spirit" store in your town....a place where they sell highschool items...they usually embroider stuff in-house.  When I was younger I got a jacket with our school name on it an my name on it.  An alterations store might also have embroidery services.
