Has anyone done a double wedding?

So my brother and his fiancee is getting married in April of next year we just found out about it just yesterday, while we had that month picked out since the engagement. Well that is when we are planning our wedding too. So we are discussing since we both want it in April is to do a double wedding. We are very close my brother and I. Has anyone done this before and if so did you like it and how did it went? Please I need some input on this.
They are coming over tomorrow so we can discuss this the 4 of us.

    I went to a double destination wedding in 1992...mother and son...turned out to be huge because of both guestlists...but it was nice, very close family, only thing I will say is think about it, agreeing with other bride and groom may be difficult...plus most brides like their day to be for both of them...

    I've never been to one before. How will you handle it if you end up with completely different visions? Will you be able to agree on an overall budget as well as individual budgets for vendors? What if you love something and she hates it? What if she believes no one should get a date unless they're married, and you think that's rude? I feel like you'd have to be very flexible.

    Agree with PPs posters about the need for flexibility.  I would also think you would need to give more weight to the opinions of your respective fiance(e)s in this situation.  This seems like a good idea for you and your brother because you are close and your family would have the most benefit.  I would really consider if the two other families involved would be comfortable with this arrangement as they would essentially be invited to a second wedding.

    Good point! This made me think about how the ceremonies work. Will one of you be married first and the other second? Or does the officiant marry you both at once? Or do you have 2 separate simultaneous ceremonies? Whose name goes first on the invitation?

    I am fascinated by this now. I had never heard of this before.

    I personally couldn't do it. Even though my siblings and I are pretty close, we also would bash heads on a lot of things.  Really it's up to you but I wouldn't do it.

    My sister and I actually were going to do one, but decided against it.  It takes alot of work and being open and honest with everybody, cause 1 little thing can turn out to be a huge fight if it's not handled correctly! 
    If you guys can do, go for it! I always thought it would be amazing to see. :-)

    I would consider maybe doing the 2 weddings in the same weekend say one on Friday and one on Sunday ( especially if a lot of OOT) so your mutual family members could likely make both. I would consider using the same photographer or dj or catererer (except a different food choice) or other vendors. You may be able o negotiate a better rate on both that way.

    Well I decided on not to do it. I had a feeling that it won't work out. Like we have our wedding songs picked out. I know that us girls would probably be disappointed afterwards if we done it. Since us girls dream of this day when we are little i don't want to take that away from her planning her special day. My brother and her understood. My fiancnee and i are deciding on to have it in Oct of this year it will be 10 yrs this year so i think it will be perfect if we get married on that date and that date this year falls on a Saturday..
