Where to buy quality invitations locally

I have checked out Sophistikatedesigns and while I LOVE her work, I just don't have the budget for $5-$8/invitation. 

Where do you recommend going to look at card stock samples? I don't want to spend more than $3 per invite including envelope and RSVP card.

    I used Alternative Hitches and really liked Stefanie. I did everything online and got a 40% discount which made them pretty affordable. I'd check it out.

    Were you able to look at the type of paper in person or did you know what they were talking about when they mentioned the card stock? I have no idea what I'm looking for in paper. All I know is that I want them to be nice, lol.

    I am using So Inviting Designs- Sarah is super sweet and has some different options to keep things within budget.

    Now this might sound crazy but...I got my invites at the Flower Factory. It's kind of a junky store on the westside, but they have the same kind of invites you might find at Michael's crafts that you have to print yourself. I got really nice folding pocket invites for $15 a box (25 invites per box). I printed them myself and added a colored monogram I made on the computer. It was very time consuming, but well worth the savings in the end...they look professionally done, if I do say so myself!

    Thanks for reminding me about Flower Factory! I was planning on DIY for invites and I hadn't thought about them yet.

    We used Peabody Papers and loved the experience. Rachel was great to work with and listened to me throughout the whole process. I told her what our total cap for invites were, the design we had in mind, and she worked with it. The quote Peabody gave me was half of what On Paper gave me for something similar. We did a custom deign using Envelopments. While although ours were about $6.25 an invite, you could definitely do something for $3 there. (We also did our rehearsal diner invites through them and I think they were less than $3 per invite.) They took care of all of our wedding stationery and paper needs, and they did an excellent printing job and assembly.
