Honeymoon

Good morning Knotties!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween (and that no one is experiencing a sugar hangover this morning)!

I'm coming to you all for help, once again. My fiance and I are starting to look at honeymoon destinations (it's still early I know...but I'm just so excited!!). I really like the idea of going to Costa Rica, or somewhere that I can zipline since I've always wanted to do it and couldn't think of a more perfect time.

I am open to any/all destinations at this point. Is it worth the extra money to do all-inclusive?

Can't wait to see what you guys come up with for me Smile

I don't have any specific hotel recommendations for you ( went for a college class), but I have been to Costa Rica and it is beautiful!  For zip lining/cloud forest type atmosphere Monte Verde is really nice.  There are also a lot of walking tours and stuff that you can do in the forests there.  I also went to Cabo Blanco which is more beachy (snorkeling), but also beautiful!  I can send you some pictures if you'd like.  But overall it is just so natural and there is so much wildlife, I loved it!

If you could afford it, New Zealand is also AWESOME and they have a lot of "extreme" activities, especially in Queenstown on the south island.  If you wanted to "rough it" the hostels there aren't bad, but I'm sure you could find some nice hotels, too.  Christchurch would be another place to check on the south island.

I think many places in the Caribbean have zip lining.
I am personally going to an all-inclusive resort for the HM because we want to relax, and just enjoy each other's company and do excursions and not worry about where we're going to eat that day. Also, my FI's aunt and uncle are paying for the honeymoon, and they don't want us to have to bring cash on the trip.

It really depends on your budget and what you want - adventure/excitement or relaxation.  All inclusive makes sense if you plan to stay at the hotel more often than not and you plan to drink at least a couple cocktails a day.  Belize is probably the cheapest for the most adventure and beauty.  Costa Rica is also great for rain forests but more pricey than Belize.  St, Lucia I think will be the most beautiful but the most expensive.   I'm just going to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to the Garza Blanca Resort all inclusive and they too have ziplining nearby.  Most beatiful hotel and not many children.

I highly suggest using tripadvisor for reviews on hotels.  I also recommend looking at LivingSocial escapes for great deals as that is where I got mine.

I've never been to Costa Rica, but I do love AIs. I prefer them beacuse I like knowing exactly what I am spending up front, and I do think that they can save money. I love being able to just go to the bar and get drinks, have good service, and go to restaurants and order whatever I please without having to worry about what I am spending. It makes the vacation a lot more enjoyable for me to just kick back and leave my wallet in the safe.

We're doing all inclusive for HM to Jamaica in February. Like pp, we didn't want to worry about having to spend much more once we got there, but can still spend a bit more to do some excursions if we feel like it. We used Midwest Travel to help book our HM since we weren't too picky and basically just wanted somewhere in the Caribbean that would give us the best deal for the money. They were great to work with, so if you're not set on any one place, I'd suggest checking them out and basically do the same as us, let them know what you're looking for and what your budget is and then let them do the rest.

I went to Costa Rica in high school and I highly recommend it! It is amazing! I stayed in the southern part of the country in eco-friendly places. There was a couple on a honeymoon while we were at La Leona, where we stayed in tents overlooking the beach. La Luna is a yoga retreat closeby and I would LOVE to stay there sometime. We hiked around Corcovado National Park and a few other places. We didn't do any ziplining, but there are tons of places to do that! I hope to go back someday!
