Has anyone used postcards as save the dates?

I want to keep my save the date budget at about $1-$1.50 each.  I was thinking postcards could be a fun way to stay on budget but keep the New Orleans theme.  Does anyone have suggestions about how to buy & print these?  I want to avoid using a calligrapher.  Thanks!

    If you want to design your own postcards, you can use a site like VistaPrint to print them. Then you can do a photo on the front - either a pic of the two of you, or a New Orleans scene, with Save he Date, the wedding date, etc written in a nice font (just use Photoshop.).  And fill in whatever pertinent info on the back, plus your return address and a space for the destination address.

    No one expects you to have calligraphy on the STDs, so if you have neat handwriting, you can write the recepient addresses yourself.  Otherwise, just make sure you order a few extras for practice, and run them through your home printer and print all the addresses.

    The cost should be WELL under a dollar for the postcards - probably more like 20-30 cents, and with postage, you'll still be under a dollar.

    Another option is to get the free New Oreans postcards that the Tourism office will provide you with.  But then you will need to print all the information on the back using your home printer.  Or get a custom stamp (which can still be very affordable.  Just google for a stamp maker in your area.)

    I did postcards for mine.  They were one of my favorite things about the wedding... until the post office manhandled them!  I was very upset when everyone received them and they were messed up.  I guess it was the machine the USPS used.  I would make sure the paper is a really good quality to ensure they arrive in one piece!

    We used ShadowBoxerCrafts on Etsy.com for our Save the Date Postcards.  

    We really liked her San Francisco design and she designed a New Orleans one for us! 

    Penelope did a fantastic job!  They were a little over $2.00 a card, but that is because we paid the custom design fee.  The postcard is now listed in her shop, so you wouldn't have the design cost!

    I've just finished addressing the majority of them and I'm so excited to send them out later this week.

    I have made postcards for something else at zazzle.com, and I really liked how easy and affordable it was. I am thinking about using them for another project.

    We used vintage-style New Orleans destinations postcards from Lucky Luxe. They are so beautiful. Ours had a vintage image of Jackson Square, but they can put any locale image on there. To keep prices down, you can get the PDF and print them wherever you want. For 220, ours were well under $100 including shipping.

    I used zazzle.com ...you can use someone else's design ( I used a fleur de lis) or you can create your own or a little bit of both.
    They were around 60 cents per peice. I splurged on the custom postage to match ...but they charge you twice as much as the regular postage. Either way they were cute.
