July 2012 Weddings

Question about ordering/sending out Invites for July wedding

Two questions:
When are you ordering your invitations?
When are you sending them out?

(*My wedding date is 7/28/12*)

Thanks!

    That's my date too!

Depending on where you are getting your invites from, you may want to order them now. I went through multiple rounds of changes before I approved the final version. From the time I placed my order (through a vendor on Etsy) to the time I received the invitations was about 5 weeks.

Once you get the invitations, you'll need time to address them all.

I'm sending mine a little early, around May 24, about 9 weeks ahead.
My RSVP date is June 22, 5 weeks ahead. I figured with July 4 coming soon after, some people might be late in replying and I'll have more time to track them down. I need my final guest count for the florist/event designer 3 weeks ahead.

But an RSVP date of 3 weeks ahead would work too (around July 7).

Thanks!!!! Planning a wedding in 7 months is crazy! I didn't realize I needed to order the invites so early - figured they had to be sent out 8+ weeks ahead of time (I think I'm going with some of the suggestions on here and going with 9 weeks ahead).

    Time to find our invitations!!!
(I've ordered a bunch of samples already and have it narrowed down - we just have to narrow it down to THE one)
  • I have my invitations picked out, but can't order them until we do our food tasting so we know what entreee options need to be written on the response card. We are doing a plated dinner and need to give our venue food selections prior to the wedding. Our tasting is the first week in April. I'm planning on sending out my invitations at the 3 month mark, April 21st for my July 21st wedding date.

  • I am getting married July 21st we already have our invites.  I just have to finish tying the bows that go on them.  I'm planning on sending mine out on April 21st as well at the three month mark.

  • We sent our STDs in November.
Ordering invitations next week (we're on our SEVENTH round of edits and hope to finalize this weekend).
    Sending out May 1st.
    RSVP date of June 14th.
    Wedding July 14th :)

Lvissers and TChiumi, any reason you decided to send out 3 months in advance? That's pretty early. I'm sending mine 2.5 months in advance because all of the guests are OOT and have to make travel arrangements. Do you have a similar situation? If so, and if we've already discussed this, nevermind.

  • My wedding is July 1st. We ordered invitations in December and I am mailing them on May 1st.
  • Ordered them back in January.  Sending them out mid-May for a July 21st wedding.

  • We are sending ours out mid-April for a July 21st wedding.  We have our RSVP date as May 31st because we are going to be going to our venue sometime in the first couple of weeks of June to order food.  So we will need to have a final count before then.  Now I just need to get the ball moving on addressing the invitations.

  • We already ordered the invites a while ago and have them.  We are sending out mid-May if not a bit earlier with an RSVP date of June 15th and a wedding date of July 14th.  We need head count in 2 weeks prior so that gives us about 2 weeks to get any stragglers.

  • We ordered them 3 weeks ago, she is starting the design April 1st and it should be finished April 6th, she will print them and mail them to us then.

We are sending them out May 15th with an RSVP date of June 21st

  • I would order immediately - whether you are going through a designer, or DIY-ing, it is going to take longer than you think!!

We sent in our deposit and started writing language for our invite and doing rounds of edits...oh....2 months ago?? we are about on our 4th round of edits and it just takes longer than you think it will.

We are July 28th as well. Sent save the dates in Jan. (6 months before), planning to mail our invites around the 3rd week of May.

Well our invites are complicated. We had a custom design made on Etsy, then I ordered stuff from Cards & Pockets to put everything together. We also had Cards & Pockets print the invites, and I just got the proofs yesterday, so waiting on the final ones. THEN we have to put them together. I'm going to have help while I'm in Indiana with my family at Easter, so they will hopefully be mostly done by then. I plan to send them out the second or third week of May for our July 14th wedding.

  • I started making mine... All my envelopes are addresses, minus about 6 that I still need addresses for. And I am half way done printing everything... Just have to put them together and stash them till May 1st when I will be mailing them. Our date is July 6th.

I put a "example" one together and got it weighed at the post office also, so I can order my stamps from zazzle. ... 85cents a piece .. and I bought pretty rose forever stamps for the return envelope already when I was there..

We're DIYing and I already sent out my out-of-country-guest invites because I skipped the formal STD part.

We still have our local invites to finish printing and assembling, kind of a PITA I don't get too excited about haha. We're hand delivering here and I guess we'll start 8-9 weeks before our date.

    GL finding your invites!! :)
  • Bridetobe... Yes my FI entire family except for his parents live out of state and will have to travel here for the wedding and he has a huge family.  We sent out our Save the Dates in January and included some hotel information but we want to make sure everyone has enough notice to get time off work and schedule travel arrangements.
