October 2012 Weddings

Pardon me while I rant

First of all, I haven't received my professional pics from my 10/7 wedding.  However I'm trying not to get to upset about it yet.  My photographer had to travel for a funeral and a conference right after my wedding so I know she had other things to take care of.  I'll follow up with her soon.

Second, and most stressful, DH and I were supposed to close on this short-sale yesterday.  We were already to go, but our closing agent told us she couldn't close without an official lien release letter from the sellers' bank (there was email communication but nothing on company letterhead).  The sellers' agent was telling us to go ahead and close! I can't believe how unprofessional that was!  Our agent told her we better have the letter on Monday or else we're walking.  Hopefully that will light a fire under her butt and we'll close on Monday.

In the meantime, DH and I are living in a 1 bedroom apartment that is covered in boxes stacked everywhere.  If we do close Monday (please God!) we can start taking over stuff all week long and move the furniture next weekend.  I just hate this in limbo feeling!

  • If it makes you feel any better, I still havent' even seen a sneak peek of my photos from 10/6. And my closing was supposed to be this week but got delayed until 11/5. Same boat as you. You're not alone. It'll all work out (the pictures will be fabulous AND the closing will go off without a single problem).

When did your contract say you would have the photos? 3 weeks seems kind of early. Many photographers take 3-6 MONTHS.
  • Don't freak out about the pictures (yet) . . my sister's wedding was last september she didn't get any pictures until February! And that's pretty normal. like the other girls said check your contract there may be a time frame in there!

  • All photographers' schedules and processes are different. I'm a 10/6er and at earliest, I'm hoping that a week from Monday, we may see some. Although who knows what Sandy will do to everything...

Best of luck with the house!

  • I'm a 10/7-er and haven't received mine yet either.  My girl had said we'd see something in 2 weeks but haven't yet, but then I saw a post on facebook that after this weekend she's finally going to get to editting all her wedding photos from her busy October.  Hopefully they'll be good since I wasn't so thrilled with her that day.

  • No worries, I was married 10/06 and we haven't gotten the professional photos yet.

Just think of it this way:  The longer the photographer takes, the longer they are working on your photos frame my frame instead of just doing a quick brushup, churning them out, and shoving them off onto you.

Wedding photos will last a lifetime.  They're worth the wait!
