First Look Locations

At first I didn't like the idea of doing a "first look", but after reading a lot of posts on it, I think I'm sold on the idea.  Our ceremony is at St Mary of the Mount (church on Grandview Ave on Mt Washington), and I wanted to use the overlook on Mt Wash as a place for photos.  But I also kind of wanted to have some photos with some green in them instead of just the city background.  Like a park or something.  So I'm thinking we could do the first look at a different location, get some pictures there, then head to the church/overlook for more pictures.  I love the idea of getting pictures done at Phipps, and I live pretty much right next to it so it's a convenient location, but it's a little pricey and we're on a super tight budget.  Does anyone know of a location that would be less than Phipps, or even free! :-)   A pond or waterfall of some sort would be awesome, but I'd at least like to have pretty green scenery with trees or flowers.

Mellon Park in Shadyside - green, pretty flowers, gorgeous brick walls and a fountain with flowing water.  Also, I think it's free and its just up the street from phipps.

Somehow I've never heard of Mellon Park before, but it sounds perfect!!  I'll definitely check it out!  Thanks!

Mellon Park is beautiful!  The West End Overlook also has a lot of greenery, and its realy close to Mt Washington.  Here's an engagement shot from there (the last few) http://silverlightstudios.com/blog/?p=980

Also, the park on the North Side (clicky) has TONS of greenery, and again, its probably a five minute ride from MT Washington.  There is a park on Mt Washington about a mile from Shiloh Street, but I think Mellon Park, or the other two would be much prettier.

I had some pictures taken at the West End Overlook, it's a park so it has a lot green and has the city view...

We also had pictures taken on 6th and Grant (in between US Steel Tower and Mellon Bank)
