September 2012 Weddings

New Brides?

So since today is one of the 3 most common days of the year to get engaged (Christmas, NYE) I'm just curious.

How many new brides will we get on this board who are planning for THIS September?

How many people do you know who you think will get engaged?

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Re: New Brides?

  • I think we'll get a few new ones, maybe 3 or so in the next week or so

IDK if any of my friends will get engaged.  The one who I keep thinking will, doesn't.  She's been with her bf going on 3 years, and she still says it will be a couple years.  I'd tell him to shitorgetoffthepot. It would be one thing if they were real young, but she's 27.

  • A friend of mine suprised us all and got married today.  I would say 3-4 new people in the next week or so.  It might take longer... I never really "discovered" my month board right away ;)
  • All of our friends/family our age are married with kids LOL
So unless my 19 year old cousin pops the question to his girlfriend (the way they express their undying love for each other on facebook, you never know! lol) there shouldn't be any others.
That being said, I do have a cousin who is getting remarried on Sept 1 2012 but that's fine. It's not a big event; it's her second marriage and they just had twins in December so it's more just making it official.

I'm anxious to see who joins the board tho!

  • I think we'll get a couple more.  I can't imagine planning a wedding in seven months though.  It would be way to stressful for me.

I do have one friend that I'm thinking will get engaged soon.  She's in grad school and will graduate this year so I think it will be later on.  I had been with my bf for 7 years before we got engaged, we started dating right after high school though so we were really young.  Some guys just like to take their sweet time!

  • i'm guessing we'll get a few new girls. my MOH got engaged last year right around valentine's day, and they got married in august, so 6-7 months isn't totally crazy.

i had one friend get engaged over the weekend. sorta counts? i think the next few of my friends to get engaged will all be guys, so i think i might know about it before it happens (if they talk to dan about it, which they probably will)
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

  • I hope we get some new girls!  Aww do you remember the day you got engaged and having no clue when you woke up it was going to be that day (or maybe you did)...that's them right now!  While I know planning in 7 months is doable it would freak me out.  And that's 7 months if they pick a date immediately.  Yikes!  But still so exciting.
  • I had no idea because it was FIs birthday. IDK if he knew he was going to do it that night, or if it was just the conversation we had on the drive home from dinner.  It was a good feeling though :)

  • I'd say that it will take a little bit longer for them to filter over to us.  They'll probably go to their local boards first and then start catching on through siggys etc that there are month boards.  They also have to all pick dates.  I was a May of 13 bride for the first 6 weeks I belonged to the forum and then when we really started planning, I landed here.

On a side note but somewhat related, last year FI pointed out how much it must suck for single women to work at bridal shows this weekend.  There are a ton of them in my area, and he mentioned it when we drove past a billboard for it on the freeway.  I never thought of it that way, but that must suck if you don't want to be single and find yourself working a Valentine's bridal show.

  • My local boards suck.  All 3 of them.  I check CenCal since that's where the wedding is, and since I live right on the ND line I check both MT and ND.

  • I am waiting to hear if my cousin is going to get engaged, I feel really bad for her!  Her boyfriend keeps teasing her, and won't commit!  What a turd!  She thought last summer she might get engaged but haven't heard anything yet!
  • I definitely think we'll get a few more new girls. There's a few people I know who may get engaged soon, but I highy doubt it'll be today. I really hope my brother is next. He's been with his gf (and one of my BMs) for 3 years now and she plans to move in with him when she graduates college in May.

  • I think we'll get a few more, but i think it'll be a week or two. It took us a couple of months to choose our date. And, yes, planning a wedding in 7 months is doable... I would be a wreck! hahaah!
  • I would say we will get 2-4 more girls, but it will take a while for them to find us.  I didn't discover our month board for 6-8 weeks.  My local board is REALLY quiet and the state board is pretty slow as well, so I was pleased to find that Sept 2012 is lively.

I think it is crazy to plan a wedding in less than 5-6 months so I have a feeling the number of new girls will drop off here shortly.  I got the bulk of my planning done in 4 months, but it wasn't that bad because a lot of vendors weren't booked yet.  Now there would be a lot more competition.

  • I agree, I think we'll get 3-4 more but it will take them longer to get here because they have to find us first :)

None of my friends are getting engaged anytime in the near, near future... a few are I would guess a few months from now, one is starting to look at rings but has said he's not wanting to do it too soon (they JUST had a baby last week so he wants that to slow down a little first with all the visitors and everything else lol).
  • My sister got engaged yesterday (yay!) but they aren't getting married until next year. I think most new brides are probably waiting until at least next spring.

  • A couple we hang out with occasionally got engaged yesterday.  I honestly didn't even think of them, they just had a baby 3 weeks ago.  I'm happy for them.  This is the first couple I've been happy for in a long time, but it's also been the first couple to get engaged since we did.  I was in a funk whenever I heard a couple was pregnant or engaged.  I think there was jealousy and wonder of "is the EVER going to happen for me?"

And someone else announced they are pregnant.  I thought it was a little early to announce, but to each their own.  I guess I'm one who thinks it's important to wait for the first trimester to pass, because you never know what can happen.  I've had 3 people in the past few months who were all excited and announced, only to have miscarried a couple weeks later.
