Getting in Shape

Re: Deleted

  • I'm doing p90x, so it's rather structured, but I think I might try to keep the structure once I'm done.

For the most part - Sat, Mon, and Wed are weight days (different muscle groups each time), and Sun, Tues, and Thurs are cardio days, with Friday as a rest day.  I work out after work, except on the weekends when I do it first thing in the morning so that I don't have any excuses later in the day.

  • I usually run every morning. Get up at six and a couple miles or so. I have a triathlon on Sunday, so once a week I've been hitting the pool and once or twice a week getting on my bike. I go to a spin class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and since I'm training for my tri I usually run immediatly after the class ends too.

I do my weights at work. I work alone in a satelitte office, so I work out without any hesitation since no one is here to side eye me. I actually missed my run this morning (I was up in the middle of the night with the dog, so I was to tired to drag myself out of bed this morning), so I brought a workout dvd with me and plan to do it in like an hour for my "break".

I do 3 weight workouts, 2 cardio workouts, 1 rest day, and the 7th day can be rest or extra cardio depending on how I feel. I don't do them on specific days, just whenever I can get them in. Usually my weight training it's as long as cardio so I'll do that if I'm in a pinch. As long as I get those 5 sessions in I don't care what time or what day it is :)

Sometimes I can get to the gym on my lunch hour, sometimes I wait until after work, sometimes I go in the morning. Sometimes weeks are so busy I will do a weight and cardio workout on the same evening since I know I won't have time later on.
  • I go to the gym 5 days a week, M-F early in the day before work. I do the elliptical for 40 minutes, 20 minutes of it on level 10, and the last 20 minutes sprinting on level 8-9. Then I do abs everyday after i work out for at least 20 minutes, and weights every other day for 20 minutes. I also play softball once a week. Saturday is cheat day, no workouts and Sunday is no workouts as well :)

I just got engaged on Saturday, so am trying to start my workout routine this week.  I think M-Fr I will try to run before work.   And then do Jillian 30 day shred a couple times/week in the evening.
Sunday will be a rest day and Saturday I will try to do mix it up with a class (Kettlebell).
  • I try to go to the gym every other day (no set MWF, TTHS thing), then every day I attempt to get at least 10,000 steps in (doesn't matter what kind of activity). On non-gym days, I usually go on walks or will use my exercise bike while watching a movie or TV.

I try to also get weightlifting in at least twice a week, though I will admit I'm a total slacker on this and it's been more like once a week.

The important thing for me is just keeping active in general.

  • i do 3 days of strength training for about 45-60 minutes and 3 days of conditioning (aka running on the tredmill) for 30minutes. I always alternate my days so my muscles can properly rest and make sure to get plenty of protein. Occasionally on my one day off I will go for a nice relaxing walk but nothing too insane becuase I don't want to wear myself out. I find a lot of times when I feel soo tired and think there is no possible way I can be effective at the gym, simply going to the gym I wake up real quick just after stretching. Believe me if I can do it and then work 12 hours on night shift, you can def do it, just push yourself. Good luck!
