So I'm one of those brides who does not have my cake done yet. I know what I want it to look like and I know where I want it from but we haven't put down a deposit or gotten a contract yet. This is something my mom wanted to pay for, so it's been crazy trying to arrange schedules for a tasting (although I've already had their cake, so I know I like it).

Well, the shop is having their annual cake show with a display room and samples from all their cakes next weekend. And my mom happens to be free and agreed to go with me. Yay! So I figured I should call and make sure they still have openings for May 11th.

I called and they said they have plenty of availability, no worries. They only have one wedding that weekend. Also- normally they ask for $100 deposit to reserve your date, which is standard around here and we were already planning on doing. But they're running a special for January that you can either put $50 down to reserve your date or if you put the $100 down (which we are still planning on doing) you get a free groom's cake! Woohoo!

I'm sure there are restrictions on the groom's cake but, since we weren't planning on having one in the first place, this is a nice bonus. I'm very excited! I guess it paid off to be behind on this part of the planning. :-)

    Yes, we do. I'm going to leave that one up to FI, so I'm expecting some sort of car or transformers theme. :D
