Bridal Portraits

Okay, so I am planning on doing a bridal shoot with just me, but I'm not sure when to do it. My wedding and photographers are in Nashville, where I grew up, but I now live about two hours away. I work in an elementary school and our fall break happened to land the week before the wedding, so there would be the perfect opportunity for me to already be in Nashville and not have to take time off of work or do the shoot on a weekend and go ahead and get them done before the wedding. My photographers make it sound like most people do these ahead of time and aren't too worried about the dress getting dirty as long as we pick it up as we walk, use a blanket, etc.

If I decide to wait until after the wedding, it's going to be a lot harder for me to find the time to get into town and have the pictures done. Also my photographers were saying that the dress typically gets dirty during the wedding, so I'd probably want it cleaned before the pictures, and if it got dirty then, it would have to be cleaned again before having it preserved. Any thoughts? What are you guys doing?

I think this is something that's really common in the South. I've never heard of it done in the Northeast.

I guess my bridal portraits will be done the day of the weddding when my photographer gets some pics of me alone.

I am not having Bridal portraits taken, I had it as an option as a free add on, but FI and I decided to do another round of e-pics so we could both meet our photographers.

In your situation, I would definitely look at going the week before your wedding and just being super careful with the dress. I don't think it should be an issue and then you won't have to make any extra trips. I know that can be annoying sometimes. I like to try and cluster things like that.

I am doing mine after the wedding just because of scheduling. If I were in your shoes, I would do it before and as you said just make sure you pick up the dress. When else do you get all dolled up and get pics taken like this? make the most of it!

My sister had her Bridals done the same day has her hair/makeup trial. The photographer had one big print of just her in a frame at the reception. It was really nice. I think Bridals are normally done before the wedding.

I'm not doing a seperate bridal shoot. I can't imagine what I'll do with a ton of pictures of just me. I'll have a mini session with my photographer on the day of though.
