Alterations...Ana's vs. Bridal Garden/Rose

So girls - my dress has come in! I bought it at Ana's and hopefully going this Friday to pay the balance and try it on! So anxious and excited!

My girls ended up buying their dresses at Bridal Garden so I no longer get free alterations at Ana's...after my experience at the Bridal Garden, I feel that I'd rather take my dress there for fittings and alterations. Every woman there was so nice to me and the girls..and they have some great jewelry and hairpieces I could try on with my dress at the same time.

Do any of you care to share experiences at either place for fittings/alterations?

Thanks!

i don't understnad-- your free alterations at ana's were contingent on your maids getting their dresses there? i just bought my dress there too and was also offered free alterations, but she never said anything about bridesmaids dresses needing to be bought there too!

yep...unless she's got a new offer going now for new brides' purchases... :(

    Hi-
My girls are just in the process of getting final alterations done at Ana's (we bought their dresses there).  I have no problems with the alterations, however, they did order the wrong dress size for one of my girls...we all kind of knew it, but then figured they knew what they were doing and backed down on calling them on it.  Second, they are charging us $10 pp to steam each dress.  We are spending a lot of money on brand new dresses, seems ridiculous to have to pay for them to be steamed on top of the alterations.  All in all, the dresses look great after alterations, but I thought I would share what we have encountered.

I was at Ana's today and I wasn't aware that I also had to buy my BM dresses there to get the free alterations. I probably won't be buying my dress at Ana's since they don't carry the particular dress I wanted to try on but I liked their selection of BM dresses. I went with Sewing Creations by Rose since she was a dream to work with when I was a BM in my cousin's wedding. I believe she steams/press the dresses as part of her service fee for alterations.

I purchased bridesmaid dress at both locations for previous weddings that I was in and I had alterations done at both places.  I definitely have to recomend the Bridal Garden based on my experience.  Although there was nothing wrong with my "free" alterations at Ana's, they NEVER returned any of my phone calls.  It was so annoying to try to get in touch with them for appointments.  The bridal Garden was a dream.  I didn't have any luck finding my wedding gown there though :(

Thanks ladies. I'm actually going to bring it to Rose in East Greenwich as she has a bit better availability than Bridal Garden's seamstress. She was so nice on the phone!! Can't wait to meet her. It's starting to feel real!

I think you'll love Rose. I just saw her last week, she is such a sweet heart! I have fitting with her in early Feb.

You will love Rose! She is seriously the sweetest person ever. She had more than 40 brides - most with parties - for the Columbus Day weekend (I think she said more than half were 10-10-10 brides like me) and if she was stressed at all, you'd never know it. She's just fantastic.

I used Rose too for my wedding a year ago....she said she had 35 brides that weekend.  Crazy, I don't know how she does it!  Anyway, she got me super psyched up for the wedding, which was a nice change from all the stress.  She also sent a nice note along with my dress (my SIL picked it up for me since I ran out of time).  She is lovely.

Jennifer, she sent a note with mine, too, and told me to open it later. It was so personal and sweet. I read it the night before in the hotel room.

THey are awful and soo unprofessional. I dealt with them for my brothers wedding in which I was a Bridesmaid, they were very rude during my fittings, not just me but also the other bridesmaids. On my way out of the store i ran into the rep for Bill Levkoff and I told him what i thought of that store, and he told e it wasnt the first complaint he had gotten!

I'm having a terrible experience with Ana's Bridal.  Horrible customer service & I'm so upset that they're turning something so special into such a negative feeling.
    - They don't return calls!!!  I tried many times.
    - They were inflexible in scheduling a fitting with me when my dress came in late.  It was even later because it took me so long to get a hold of somebody & they miscommunicated with the dress company.
    - The seamstress I met for fitting #1 messed up the alterations & added visible ugly metal hooks for a bustle which looked totally different than what we discussed. I never would have agreed to having metal hooks showing in the middle of the back of my dress.
    - The seamstress at fitting #2 when I noticed the hooks (& the pull in the fabric they made) wasn't communicating either.  It was like pulling teeth to get her to tell me there was another option for the bustle/hook situation.  And she was also about to do another incorrect alteration to the top before I confirmed what she would be altering & corrected her.
    - They tried to charge me for 2 sets of alterations even though the 2nd set is only happening because they screwed it up.
    - The dress got totally wrinkled between fittings 1 & 2 but they are charging me $50 to have it steamed.  I tried to fight it but they won't budge.
    - The young girl who was checking me out (& is also the one who often answers the phones & doesn't call back) is really rude.
