Hi Ladies-
Had my first dress apointments yesterday. I'll try to post pictures to facebook later
First appt: the spot where my sister got her dress - she actually ended up cancelling on us at the last second so it ended up being just my mom and me. The girl we got assigned was nice enough - she seemed newer and definitely didn't give any feedback or tips or anything. She just wheeled a rack around and had me pull the dresses I thought I would like onto the rack. Once we went through the whole section we went back to the try on room. It was a little weird to be getting undressed with a random stranger hanging out in the room! Ended up having 2 top picks. The #1 option actually looked like a dress that gets picked on SYTTD a lot - I can see why! It is super flattering and made my waist look tiny and held the girls in without looking too crazy. It was a satiny material, with the blingy "sash" line under the bust - mermaid-y style.
Second Appt: David's bridal. It was horrible. We got an old lady as the consultant. It took her FOREVER to find any dresses and she would only bring one back at a time. The majority of this appt was me and mom chit chatting as we waited for the lady to come back. She brought back a size or two bigger for most of the dresses so they would zip all the way up for the girls but then the rest of the dress was super huge - she didn't have clips or anything so my mom would hold the back of the dress together to try and give an idea of the shape.Finally some other lady came over and started clipping me in some of the dresses. They actually didn't even have a ton of the dresses that I had selected as my favorites on the website. Which I wish you could see on the website what was available in your specific location but you can't. I did find one option there that I liked a lot. It was a fit and flair style - beaded/lacy all over with kind of a flouncy bottom. And it looks TOTALLY different than the #1 option at the first store!!
Overall - it didn't go nearly as bad as I had feared. I'm excited to see what options are at the next two spots -- they are smaller boutique stores so hopefully the service will be better! I hope I get more suggestions from the consultants on what would look good - although maybe that only happens on SYTTD!! At least I'll have my MOH there and I can trust her to give me more feedback -- my mom was kind of silent only saying she liked the #1 option at the first store.
