Scented Candles? Or Incense?

I was telling a friend about my de-stressing regimen and I brought up that if I really want to unwind I'll light a stick of incense instead of a scented candle.  It's just my preference, I like the more intense smoky smell.  She said she can't stand it and prefers scented candles.

SO doesn't like incense but will (not so quietly) allow me to burn it around him now and again, especially after a hard day.

Since it seems like a bit of a polarizing topic I thought I'd pose the question to you ladies: Candles or incense?

The smell of incense makes me feel sick. I love scented candles though

Strong scents usually make my head hurt, but I'd go with a light scented candle. BF likes incense occasionally, but I love the way candles look and I love gentle, subtle smells.

I wouldn't say I have anything against incense, but I think I prefer candles. I feel like candles have so much more variety. There are an infinite number of scents to choose from. I feel like incense always has a smoky undertone to the scent, and there is no way that it can be avoided. I think incense is good for setting a certain mood, but I think candles are better on a regular basis.

I can't take incense for too long, but I prefer candles.

I enjoy the smokiness of it, I guess I didn't realize that it turns a lot of people off.  To each her own I suppose, thanks ladies!

Neither. I actually really dislike smelly things (air freshener, scented candles, potpourri, etc). I'd prefer an unscented beeswax candle - I like the slight burning smell and warmth, but that's really it.

I like all things that burn (I'm THAT girl. The one that will light random -not living- things on fire just to watch them burn/ play with ashes/wax). So, both as long as they smell good! But I find that inscense is more strong smelling than a candle, and I try to be considerate of my roommates. My BF is on a similar page. His view is "Let's just burn something. If it smells good, that's just icing on top!"

I love the smell of scented candles but I get the cheap ones so you have to be right near it to smell it. Thus, I voted for incense because even the cheap ones stink up the whole room- and that's a good thing if it's a good stink :P

Incense gives me a headache and makes me feel sick. My mom used to burn it and I didn't mind it when I was growing up, but now, UGH.

I don't really burn candles that often but I will occasionally, usually vanilla or something light scented.
