NWR: Migraine Headaches

I am reaching out to aniyone who suffers from migraine headaches. I had sinus surgery on March 12, 2012. Prior to the surgery I suffered from severe sinus infections 2-3 times a month. Well not after the surgery I have developed migraine headaches. Can anyone give me thir remedies for migraines? I am beyond excedrin, I was taking Imatrex and they seem to do nothing and my aunt gave me a stronger migraine pill called Orbivan but I can't take these at work because they knock me out. I am miserable and just want to chop my head off some days....

  • These run in my family. My grandmother and mother get them so bad they have to go to the hospital to get a shot or an IV. When I was younger I was on medication for them. Couldn't tell you the name I mean I was really young with migraines. I only experience them occasionally in my adulthood but when they come...BOY OH BOY. I know what you mean about wanting to rip your head off. Nothing you do can make you comfortable. I am fortunate I no longer have to go the prescription route. Aleve, an ice pack, and a dark room can normally fix it for me. Do your ever linger for days? I mean sometimes you just stop and realize, wow I've had a constant headache for like 3 days. Praying for you sis because I know they are no fun. Make sure you are going to your doctor and having scans done as well.

     My mom takes all kinds of medicines still. And yes some do knock her out and have her talking crazy. I hate that she has to go to that extreme.  I would say just remain in contact with your doctor and let them know what is and isn't working. There are lots of remedies and things you can try. Maybe even things that don't require medicine like massages or pressure point relief. Finding the cause is helpful also.  I don't get them as often but when I do its normally a sign of rain. Something changes in the atmosphere when it rains and that pressure can trigger a migraine. My mom gets a headache every time it rains.

    Ok this is getting long but one last thing. Prayer! Prayer truly changes things. I have an older cousin who suffered from them and had to take the heavy meds. She said she got to a point where she was tired of being "high" all the time off of the medicines. She finally said this is enough! I need a healing! She hasn't had to take meds in years. I also declared the same thing over my life. I refuse to let that generational curse of migraines over take me. And I pray for your healing as well!

  • i know you said you are beyond Excedrine, but I get migraines all the time. As SOON as I feel one coming on I take two Excedrine Migraine tabs. . Usually that does the trick. They don't work if the headache is in full force. It's too late then. I usually have to lay flat on my back in a dark room with no noise. A cold rag helps too. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. They are very tough to deal with.

  • Thanks Ladies.

    @Msbdumas Thanks!

    @MrsBoss2012 OMG I literally broke out in tears at my desk. I thank the Lord that my kids understand when I get them. I have talked to my dr and he is bringing me in for a scan tomorrow morning. I literally have had this headache since Friday May 11. I also massage peace of mind on my temples and it helps a little bit. I have cried out to the Lord that I can't take the pain anymore and I ask for healing and relief soon!
    Thank you for the declaration and prayer over my situation!

    @20Pearls16 yes I am beyond excedrin...when they first started I was on Imatrex and they worked  for a little while. Now I am being given Orbivan and phenegran...grrr

    But I just went to the chiropractor and LORD thank you for blessing people to adjust bones! I feel so much better literally....I feel like I have a little migraine hangover but I will be going once a week for migraine adjustments!!

    I will see how this works!
