HELP! Wedding Songs??

Alright guys, me and my FI wedding is July 18th and its quickly approaching! I am working on songs for the wedding. Any ideas for good love songs, first dance songs, or songs having to do with being separated. FI gets back from a 10 month deployment a month and a half before the wedding so I want to have some sweet love songs having to do with that. Any input helps!!! Thanks!!

Our first dance started out to 'When You Come Back Down" by Nickel Creek. Our marriage was aviation themed kind of, so it went.

I also like The Longer the Waiting by Josh Turner, but it's kind of Navy related.

"Feels Like Home" by Chantal Krevuziak is good.

    I hate Dave Ramsey

Hi and welcome. Our first dance was to "Then" by Brad Paisley. Taylor Swift just came out with a song that I saw the video for and at the end it shows her meeting her h/fi/bf at the airport with him coming home. I think it is Love like ours" or something. We also had some oldie but goodies like "My Girl" which was fun to dance to. Good luck!

Our first dance song was "Hold On" by Micheal Buble.

We had a string quartet for our ceremony, I can give you that list if it would be helpful.

This is seperate but I really wanted to incorporate Mama's Song by Carrie Underwood because my mom and I are really close and it fit perfectly. I couldn't make it work so I just showed her the video after the rehearsal.

Our first dance was "Marry Me" by Train, before it even became very mainstream. H and I used go always listen/sing to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz. The lyrics talk about being away from each other. He also used to sing "Hey there Delilah" to me. I usually listen to "Home" whenever H is gone, I like the Blake Shelton version better than Michael Buble. I know it might seem weird H sings to me, he's not.a.very good singer but it was sweet. He doesn't do it anymore though. Lol

<div>That was our wedding song.  Then it was on Glee and became overly popular, but I still love it and thought it was perfectly fitting for H and I.</div>

Ours was Makin' Plans by Miranda Lambert. It was supposed to be Dig by Incubus, but we had a last minute change of heart about 3 days before the wedding ha ha!

We also thought about doing Glitter in the Air (Pink), and Thank You by Led Zeppelin... we like rock music.

    Kara, when you said this:

    I thought this:

    Hee hee! Love you!

Cab: hahaha. Ain't that the truth! It's always funny to me how really awesome songs don't become popular until like 1-3 years later. Same thing with bands. Ive always liked Train and "Marry Me" came out in like 09! It wasn't mainstream til like lat year though.

Kara - I didn't see your post until now... but I totally know what you mean. I bought the album right after it came out and fell inlove with Marry Me. FI and I weren't really at that point in our relationship yet, but I secretly wanted that song in my future wedding...Then  when my wedding comes around it is all mainstream and it really sorta annoyed me. Oh well.

Our first dance song is Then by Brad Paisley as well!

I like I'm already there by Lonestar and Ours by Taylor Swift

OP - I'd suggest removing the exact timeframe he's returning from deployment.  Maybe change it to "not far before the wedding" rather than a pretty specific time frame.  Look up OPSEC and make it your friend!

Our first dance song will probably be "Everything" by Michael Buble.  We wanted a bit  more upbeat of a song than most seem to choose, and that one always makes me smile so big and think of him.

Our last song will be "Save the last dance for me" by Michael Buble (seeing a pattern here?).

My father/daughter song will be "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion.  I've wanted that song since I was 13 years old and first heard it.

We're not having a grand entrance or a cake cutting  or a bouquet or garter toss, but for the couple's dance (which we're doing instead of the bouquet toss), we're having all married couples come up to the dance floor, and then we'll dance for a bit and they'll say, "If you've been married for 2 hours, please sit down." And FI and I will sit down!  Followed by "If you've been married less than 5 years, please sit down."  and so on, until there is only a few couples left, and then they'll count by years until there's only one couple.  I'll present my toss bouquet to the woman and my FI will present a bottle of champagne to the man.  Anyway, the song we're going to play for that is "You're Still the One" by Orleans.

And at some point, we have to play "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel as it's my parents' wedding song.

I don't know if we'll really do dancing, I do know we'll have music, but I don't know if anyone will really let loose and dance, and it seems weird to do a "First Dance" or a "Father/Daughter" without music. That being said, FI and I's song is "You Better...You Bet" by The Who, which is not a great dancing song, the song that makes me think of him is "The Street Where You Live" from My Fair Lady. I know that if I do the Father/Daughter thing that we will dance to"Alison" by Elvis Costello because that's where my dad got my middle name, and I think Mr. Costello is pretty awesome. I'm definitely wanting "Everyday I Write the Book" somewhere. I know we'll be doing traditional church music, I haven't met with the musical director/organist yet.

Cal, are you sure you don't want a grand entrance? H grudgingly allowed me to do

It was so fantastic (everyone died), and not to rub it in, but I think it was good luck.

So not our thing.  FI would die and be super awkward.  Besides, the way we're running our ceremony doesn't exactly allow for this - we're rejoining our guests during cocktail hour and not really leaving again.  There's not really a place for it.

Sammie and I were actually talking about this last weekend while we were hanging out... that your husband so clearly adores the heck out of you, and it's awesome.  I think in every picture I've seen, he's always looking at you with a mixture of fear/intimidation and absolute adoration and love.

Our first dance song will be "Let It Be Me" by Ray LaMontagne. I also really love his song "You Are the Best Thing" so we are using it in our picture slideshow. It may not be your style of music, but I just love his voice. Brings tears to my eyes every time!
