Magnolia Mansion

How much is an average wedding here? I filled out the contact form and they will not give me a quote over the phone or in an e-mail. I don't want to go look at it and fall in love then realize that we can not afford it.

I am going to look at this space this weekend.  I would be interested to hear some feedback from others who have used the space.

I gave them my budget and amount of people and they sent me a proposal within my price range. They didn't give me a price per head but I think it is reasonable.  They seem to be very flexible.

We seriously considered Magnolia Mansion.  We went to see it and liked it, and met with the planner there, who we really liked as well.  We ended up choosing a similar venue at a similar price that we felt had a couple key advantages.  But we really liked Magnolia and, like stacey wrote, they don't charge per person.  What the woman will do is sit down with you and talk about what you want, how many people you expect, and your general budget...and then she will write up a proposal for you.  To give a general idea, we were given a proposal for $25k for 200 people.

They do seem pretty flexible budget-wise...but some things to keep in mind:  When giving your budget, only give the number that you expect to spend for the venue, catering, and cake.  We made the mistake of giving her our total wedding budget, and she definitely made use of every penny...at which point we had to clarify that we can't spend that much b/c we will need $ leftover for photographer, florist, band, etc...and so she had to rewrite the proposal for us!

Another issue was the guest rooms.  They have maybe 6-8 (can't remember the exact number) of guest rooms b/c they are a Bed & Breakfast.  For weddings, they require you to use and pay for these rooms for the night as part of the package...and for Sat. weddings, they require you to pay for the rooms for Fri. & Sat.  The woman made it clear that, as bride and groom, we should not expect to have to foot the bill for the rooms, and that immediate family can stay there and pay for their rooms themselves.  However...some of the rooms were VERY expensive (like more than staying in a suite at the Ritz)...so we had to consider the fact that we may need to count the rooms as part of the wedding cost b/c our relatives would really be put out by the cost of some of the rooms.

    Hope that helps!

We also looked into Magnolia Mansion for a Saturday wedding with 200 guests.  The pricing was more than $20K not including the required hotel rooms (I think they were about $4000 alone for the 2 nights).

That said, loved the coordinator and they did reduce the proposal by several thousand dollars when we said it was too much.

They also have several different spaces to choose from.  I never would have guessed that there was a party room underneath the mansion from their website (ask about the Big Easy room)!

THAT IS INSANE!! The place is very pretty but waaaaaay over priced. I went to see it today and I was told $28k, I nearly fell out of my chair. I am sticking with the WAX.
    Thanks for your input though!
