Domestic honeymoon, early June?

So, due to visa issues for my fiance, we have to do a domestic honeymoon.  I'm a little heartbroken by the idea, as I really wanted to do Costa Rica or something.  What would you recommend for the first week of June?  We're getting married in San Francisco, so I don't want to do anything Northern California based because I've visited everything around there.  Would Puerto Rico, Key West, U.S. Virgin Islands have bad weather at that time of year?  We're also thinking Hawaii, but it's out of the way, as we have to fly to the East Coast afterwards.  Thoughts?

  • Seattle? A destinatio spa in Arizona?
  • Even the USVI may give you problems in terms of Visas.  My best friend had an issue with her visa, she went to St. Thomas for a weekend trip and had issues getting back into the states.  They are a US territory but not considered part of the continental US.  Sometimes the homeland security officer wants to be a jack-@$$ and give the person a hard time.
  • I agree about the visa issues. You may want to research that further before you book and have hassles. I'd suggest FL or HI. June would be right at the beginning of hurricane season so you should run into problems with FL.

  • Oh no!  That's a bummer to hear.  I guess we should talk to my our immigration lawyer on where to go.
  • How about Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard?  It should have nice weather and it won't be high season yet so prices should be more reasonable.

If you aren't planning on getting in the water, these places would be fine, and I would also add Cape May to that list.  It's a little chilly still at that point on the beach, but if you just want to stay at a cute B&B and explore the little shops, it would be a fun trip and you can get reduced rates.  You might also check out the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

  • What about  fun in Las Vegas, relaxing in Palm Springs, Spa or golf in Scottsdale AZ (although it will be very hot by June), beautiful Charleston SC,  the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Keys/Key West, Destin FL.   If you don't want beach/pool related activites try Providence or Newport Rhode Island.  Nantucket or Boston Mass.

You have plenty of options!!!!!!!!  :)

  • The Florida keys will be wonderful, They are gorgeous and tropical and still domestic. You will get the full Caribbean feel without the need for a Visa. Also try Myrtle Beach, SC, or Rohoboth Beach, Delaware. anywhere north of Delaware I think the water would be still a little chilly, though Cape Cod/Nantuket would be nice if you did not want to swim much. Personally I think your best bests are the Keys or Rohoboth or Myrtle!
