Dress too big!

When getting measured for my dress, they suggested I ordered a certain size. I was a little bit worried because I had tried on dresses a size smaller that fit great. I trusted their advice and ordered a size up, especially since this was a different designer. Well...my dress came in and it is certainly too big. It is a corset back and is tied as tight as it can go. My question is: will they be able to take it in enough without it looking wrong? I'm really worried and really unhappy with how it currently looks on me!

Re: Dress too big!

  • Most dresses can be taken in at least 2 sizes without hurting the design of the dress.  Find a good seamtress and you shouldn't have a problem.
  • Like PP said, a good seamstress should have no problem taking the dress in a size or so.  Don't worry about it.

  • Having it a bit too big is no problem at all for a good seamstress. I had a friend purchase a gown at a bridal store on clearance that was about 3-4 sizes too big for her. It had a corset back as well. The seamstress took it in at the side seams and it looked beautiful! You should have no problem as long as you work with a skilled and reputable seamstress :)
