DH and I put up a tiny fake one only b/c we live in a small apt. Someday hopefully we'll be able to buy a real one. I grew up with a real tree every year, and I really do miss it.
We have a 7 foot pre-lit fake tree we just bought this year because we live in a condo that doesn't allow real trees. We have a loft condo so I was reallllly tempted to get a super tall tree, but I figured a 7 footer was a bit more practical
We always had a real one growing up. It was a big tradition to go cut one down at a Christmas tree farm. DH and I can't wait until we have a house so we can get a real one.
We do fake for sure! I think we're going to get a new one - pre-lit, after Christmas this year. The one we have is starting to look a bit blah. And I hate putting the lights on and taking them down every year.
FI and I do a small fake one for now in his apartment, but all our families still do real ones. Maybe one day we will actually be home enough around the holidays to get our own real one
Random note- my apartment building is next to a small vacant corner lot, and every year they sell live Christmas trees there! So every time I step out of my front door during December it smells like a wonderful pine forest. I love it!
My DH is a fire-freak so we have a fake one. But last year I threw a fit and we got a live one. This year we aren't putting on up at all since we won't be home. It's a little sad, but DH went crazy with lights outside the house, so I'm ok with it.
I can't see the poll, but I'm assuming the only question is fake or real LOL.
We have a 6ft fake prelit that I got for a steal after Christmas a few years ago. I'm actually allergic to pine, so if we had a real one I'd be feeling miserable at Christmas every year!
When I was a little girl, we used to always have a real tree!!! As we got older, and my parents got divorced, it just became easier to have a fake one. Here in Doha, fake is way cheaper than a real one, because real trees don't naturally grow here and they are probably imported in.
It's always been a division in my family because my one uncle and his family own a nursery and insist on a real tree, while my other uncle works for Pool City and insists on fake!
We have a fake one because the cats would probably try and eat the real one. They try to eat the fake one but it doesn't work so well. Plus, they would drink all the water and it would die in like 2 days.

Real! We've always gone and cut ours down as a family, and it's something I want to carry on with FI. This is our first Christmas living together, so I want to really go all out.
We're going on Thursday to go cut down a 10 footer. We have 12 ft ceilings in the apartment, and I want a HUGE tree. We bought all kinds of ornaments as our souvenir from the honeymoon from an authentic blown glass place. I'm going to bake gingerbread ornaments too! I'm way beyond excited about this.
Since this is our first year in the house- we got a real one. Although we got a 7 footer- and with the ceilings in our house, we really should have gone much taller!
Growing up, my fam would always get real tress- this is FI's first real one!
Ours is fake. I got a pre-lit one two years ago that looks pretty real! I grew up with real, but it was too difficult to get it up and down the steps in the townhouse. (I tried one year - ended up throwing it off the back deck!)
This year we have a 1 foot silver cone tree, lol. It sparkles! There is absolutely no room for our fake tree, it's in my sister's garage.
Re: Christmas tree poll!
Yay for fake trees! Prelit 4.5 ft woo woo!

We have to get a real tree. We drive 1 hour to a private farm to cut one down ourselves for only $12.
