Vendor Reviews from 10/17/09

As I was planning, I found vendor reviews very helpful and I was always appreciative of brides who took the time to post them, so I wanted to return the favor. My vendor reviews can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/ybsqkk2. I am also working on a Married Bio on the site so there are a few pics!

Amanda- thanks for the reviews!!  I have to ask, as a fellow outdoor bride...what did Algeirs play before/during the ceremony?  I would love for my second line band to pull double duty- but what kind of music do they play?

hughe046 - we actually had Coolbone Brass Band play for our ceremony/cocktail hour. Algiers played the night before (we did a second line from the RD to our welcome party). Coolbone played traditional wedding songs but they had a jazz feel. I walked down to trumpet voluntary, my bmaids walked down to Canon in D, etc. To get an idea, you can see their brass quartet play list here: http://www.coolbone.com/swing.html.

So glad to hear positive reviews about the Pavilion/City Park. I'm a City Park bride as well (next October). I actually went to the park on 10.17. Did you start late because of the plant show/sale?

Hi Erin - That's so funny! We actually started late b/c one of the buses bringing guests was late. Our ceremony was at 6pm and we got there to take pictures in the park around 3pm. Did you get to see the Pavilion set up at all for my wedding?

Thanks for posting your reviews.  I am so glad your rehearsal dinner was great at Broussard's.  We will be there in a month for ours.  It is also great to hear that your wedding was wonderful.  Can't wait to see more pictures!

I was there at like 11:00 (my ceremony is planned for the Rose Garden and I wanted to see how the roses looked in October). Of course, I had to sneak a peek inside the Pavilion. They were just starting to setup, so I didn't get to see any fun details. :(

Did you rent a dance floor? My fiance really wants to (he's a ballroom dancer), but I can't see the need for the added expense.

We did not bring in a new dance floor - the floors they have were fine to dance in but I can see if you're a professional dancer, you may have higher standards!

    HI Amanda,

I'm Ashley & i have been registered on the knot over a year but never really utilized it until I stumbled upon all the support & advice of New Orleans Brides!

Your reviews have helped a lot; We are using some of the same vendors: our reception is also at the Pavilion of Two Sisters, we're using big easy limos, & I'm using Make Me Up! When You receive your prof. photos i would like to see them Please! Esp. of your make up... I also wanted to ask if you would be kind enough to share a copy of your timeline for the day of because a planner is not in the budget for us! If you have time to email me the timeline, my address is ash_marie_myles@yahoo.com

    Thanks in advance Smile

Can I ask how much did you pay for the second line?  Did you do the hankies too?

For the second line - we paid the band $720, permits & officers were $350, and for 110 hankies about $190 (through http://www.secondlinehandkerchiefs.com/). HTH!

Oh, I should say that we had to rush order & get delivery for the hankies. If you pick them up yourself, they don't charge the delivery fee (which is like $20 and we had to pay it twice b/c we ordered a 2nd time b/c my mom didn't think I had ordered enough).

Oh, I am so glad you liked CoolBone.  I think we talked when you were planning and you asked me about them.  I had them at my wedding and everyone was sooo happy.
