Should the band have a table?

We're having a laid-back ceremony and reception in the same room with a buffet-style dinner. I wanted to have a table so the band could eat dinner too (there's a DJ through the ceremony and dinner with a band to follow). But it looks like the guest list has gotten bigger than I wanted. It's a small space and I just don't think there will be room for another table. There are picnic tables downstairs on a patio they could use, but Is it bad if they don't have a place to eat with us?

  • Normally your venue sets up for the DJ, photographer, etc. Talk to your venue.
  • It's fine, typically you wouldn't provide a regular table for your paid vendors.  You might actually want to ask them what time they plan to arrive because if they aren't scheduled to play until after dinner, they might not even want dinner at your reception.  They'll probably be busy unloading and setting up their equipment.

  • It depends on your contract as well. In ours a meal is not included but if we went with a different package where he would be there longer it would be included and you would have to provide somewhere for them to eat.
