Couples Swept Away-Negril Jamaica

Has anyone honeymooned at Couples Swept Away in Jamaica? We are honeymooning there very soon (18th) We want to be able to call home to say we got there ok, what does everyone suggest (calling card?) if yes where should we get it, in US before we leave or at the hotel. Everyone we talked to suggests buying there but dont want to get there and not be able to get one. Our cell phones cant be used internationally

  • Not sure about the calling thing, but I personally wouldn't worry about calling my parents on my honeymoon.  If things don't work out and we have problems (which I can't see happening) then I'd bite the bullet and just pay for the call.

My boss & his wife go to this resort every year, and they love it.  They actually rec. it to us for our honeymoon, but we are going to St. Lucia instead.  So I haven't been there per se, but I've heard good things =]

  • All of the Couples resorts are absolutely incredible! we were lucky enough that we were able to use our cell phones, we texted both sets of parents letting them know we made it ok, but i've never had to use a calling card so I'm not sure!
  • With some cell phone service providers you can add "international texting and data" last time I checked with sprint about 2 yrs ago it was only 14.99 a month ...you can have it one month and remove it the next ( confirm they still do this ) this way you can text or email if needed.

we plan to only text/email when I arrive to say we are ok and then maybe when we are leaving to make sure whoever is picking us up from the airport has all the details but other than that...we want to disconnect.

  • being a jamaican myself, you wont have any problems getting a phone card while you are there.

  • Couples Swept Away is one of my favorite AI resorts-- been there many times.  It's romantic and on a gorgeous beach.  I'd recommend the included snorkelling trips and water-skiing from their list of included activities.  Personally, I prefer the older 'garden view" rooms that have no tvs and louver windows from ceiling to floor.  There spa area is also really nice, and we've gotten couples massages there often.

As for the phone, you'll be able to get a phone card at the airport, right before you exit.  Or if you just need to make a single short phone call, just pay $5 to direct dial from your room.  I called my mother once for her birthday, from the room phone and it as about $5 for a quick call.  Also, there are 2 computers in the lobby for guest-use, and you could just email them.

Remember to reserve dinner at Feather's restaurant at least once, take a day trip to Dunn's River Falls if you can, and visit Rick's cafe for sunset drinks and music.

    Have a great time!
