DJ recommendations?

I'm looking for a DJ for my reception in Oswego, NY. Does anyone have recommendations... someone they have seen or are using? It's difficult to tell what they are like from their websites and I just don't have time to interview DJ's because of my work schedule. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Jason paussa who does " singers to go" located in Syracuse, ny. They travel. I am using singers to go/ Jason for my July wedding. He works out of singers karaoke club.. Wednesday and Friday nights, hes very upbeat and friendly, definitely always gts the crowd dancing.. I'm excited to have them! Very good prices too.. You have the option of just a dj service or adding karaoke. Tey are obviously very well equipped for that..

Michael Erb is my DJ; he's also based near Syracuse, but is traveling all the way past Ithaca for my wedding with no travel fee. He's a bit on the expensive side (approx $1200 for 5 hours), but came highly recommended. And when we met with him, he seemed great!

Seriously?!?! A good friend of mine had a bar DJ do her wedding WITH KARAOKE and it was a blast! I don't know who the h.e.l.l you think you are, but I highly suggest you watch the way you talk to this girls in this forum! We are here to be informative, friendly, and helpful. Here you come outta the blue with an attitude like that and you think its gunna fly? I dont think so.

I have been to Singers a few times and Jason is AWESOME!!! He is a great all-around entertainer and I had no idea that he did weddings. I would guess that he does an amazing job. If it is anything like a night at Singers, your wedding will be a lot of fun!!!

Please ignore snide comments from PP.... if karaoke is your thing and you think your friends and family will enjoy it- go for it!!!

Carol- OMG- pretty sure your snark was a bit unnecessary.

I gave an opinion;
Sure if you want your once in a lifetime day to be people shouting and singing down a sound system out of tune annoying all the other guests go for it!
Why not invite your guests to the bar afterwards for more karoake?

WHEN do GRANDPARENTS ever sing at karaoke at a wedidng even?
NEVER;

Do things for ALL your guests NOT just a bunch of friday night bar hoppers thats what I say;

DO A POLL and see HOW many Brides would have KARAOKE at their wedding;
Simply only 1% out of 100%;

then ask them why;

Then you have your answer;
NOT all the decisions we make as brides are the right ones REMEMBER that;
kevinandmonica2011 so you booked them for your wedding? If so why not?
Posted by carolburnett
To answer your question, I honestly did not know that Jason did weddings. The thought never even crossed my mind, but if I knew back when we booked our DJ 8 months ago, I would have definitely looked into it, although I think that an hour and a half worth of travel fees from him might have been quite high.

So, no, I did not book him, but I would have been happy to had I known that he was available and fit within our budget. We are having a more formal wedding, so I, personally, would not do karaoke, but I would imagine he would be an excellent DJ with or without the karaoke.

As for your ridiculous comments on karaoke- I think it totally depends on the type of wedding. Sure, for a formal Saturday evening black tie wedding, it would be out of place.... but I can definitely see it being totally appropriate for a casual affair... maybe a BBQ or something of that nature. It may be beneath you to think such, but plenty of brides opt for a more casual wedding.

As for the bolded part, read that out loud. Makes no sense. If you are going to be snarky and try to shove your opinion of proper formal "fun" down everyone's throat and be a complete snot to anyone who disagrees, perhaps insult them in terms that actually make sense?

Also, your use of caps makes me giggle. Is your caps lock button malfunctioning or are you really so full of yourself that you feel the need to EMPHASIZE almost HALF of your snotty POST.

OP- I am using Majestic DJs out of Utica. It's a husband and wife team. They play all types of music, and are not the 'star' of the show. Basically, they play the music you want and don't try to take over or be in pictures. They're also relatively inexpensive and I think they travel. My dad did a wedding and they were the DJ and he & my step-mom said everyone had a great time and was out on the floor dancing. They play light jazz during dinner/cocktail hour so everyone can hear their conversations.

When we met with Kevin Colangelo, he showed us pictures from some of the weddings he'd done, and he was in EVERY picture. I'm sorry, but my DJ shouldn't be the main focus of the the photo UNLESS it's a picture of the DJ

It wouldnt let me write on a quote so here goes.

1) If thats the manner in which you give all your opinions, I'd be shocked if you have any friends to invite to your wedding. Opinions do not need to be given in a "Im better than you and youre a moron" manner. Thats called rude and thats exactly what you are.

2) If I had a guest like you, youre 100% correct, I would want you tuned out. However, someone singing on a mic does not mean that everyone else is going to have a hard time hearing. Its called volume and believe it or not these "Bar DJs" do know how to use it.

3) Im sorry that you have dull friends and family, but my guests would have a GREAT time singing along.

4) Josh and I both have grandparents that would absolutely join in on the singing. Never say never. Im pretty sure youre not important enough to know everybody and their mothers and what they like and dislike to do.

5) If your reception goes late enough, Im sure some of the older generations start to leave. In this case it is perfectly ok to bust out some karaoke for the younger generation that has stayed.

6) TK is not "everybody", so unless you can think of a way to properly poll every bride and groom to be, dont act like you know the statistics. You pulled that number out your prissy behind and it shows. Dont use fake stats to prove a point, you look ridiculous doing so.

7) "
NOT all the decisions we make as brides are the right ones REMEMBER that" YOU need to remember that you as a human being are not perfect and do NOT know everything (you prove that in the way you emphasize points, btw). YOU may do things one way while others would prefer something completely different and that is what makes this world so great. If we were all like you this would be one boring f'n world and I'd jump ship.

Maybe in the E/SB world its ok to tear people down for not doing things exactly like you do, but here in CNY we do our best to make sure that everybody has the wedding of THEIR dreams, however wacky or different it may be. Im sure I speak for all of us when I say, if youre going to continue to be a prissy brat you can find somewhere else to post. However, if you can lose the snotty attitude, you're more than welcome to stick around.

Like I said, They don't do just karaoke it is an option you can add... the service just stems from the highly popular club. How very rude of you. Btw I've met with that Kevin dj and passed very script like, pretensious .. Wanted someone with more personality and life in them. Also both sides of our entire family love karaoke. It's a blast. Try not to be so uptight mmmkay?
