DH and I had a religious ceremony yesterday. I loved my JOP and could have lived with just that but it was very important to my family. I have kept it a secret on here because I know how it gets people all up in arms. We were very traditional despite the fact that it was a vow renewal as stated in our invites and everyone enjoyed themselves (or they said they did).
Because I didn't want to say "don't bring us gifts" since I thought that sounded blunt, we chose to let people know that we would instead be accepting donations for a charity. We're hoping to actually give to wounded warrior project and st. Judes as they are both important to us. Today we find out how much were giving on top of the money we have saved up for this.
Rather than having a shower, which I didn't see as appropriate, my mom had friends and family join us at her quilt shop to put together a quilt for quilts of valor (a program I learned about only recently).
I was actually semi dreading this day because I didn't want it to take away from my JOP for DH and I but I did have fun and I know there is potentially a lot of good that could come out of it so I'm happy. My JOP is still something very special to me that I will never forget.
I'll post a link pics in a few weeks if anyone wants to see them.
