What's your Music Inspiration today?

Hey ladies!

If you read one of my posts just recently about how God is real in my life, you know that music is a very real way that I can see God.  So... what musical inspirations do you have to share?  Anything that has caught your 'ear' lately that inspired you, or is a song that carries you through the day?

I'm most recently inspired by "Amazing Grace / My Chains Are Gone" by Chris Tomlin.

I think this might be my first post on this board but I LOVE music and recently attended the Rock and Worship Roadshow (AMAZING!! Mercy Me, Jars of Clay, and Matt Maher (my favourite) among others). I hadnt listend to the new Mercy Me stuff so hearing their songs and then of course buying the cd a lot of their songs are sticking with me right now.

This is from Francesca Battistelli's new album, coming out March 1st.  This one has been on the radio for a few weeks...and I may or may not have been dancing around the classroom while the kids (and my cooperating teacher) were at lunch.

And also, a new single from Matt Maher...although I think the album came out a while ago, judging by the date of the videos on YouTube.

Christ is Risen is AMAZING! When I got the CD last year and listened to it I fell in love with that song! I work for a Catholic Church so I talked to the Music Minister at our Life Teen Mass (a youth Mass for those who aren`t familar) and told him he HAD to play it on Easter Sunday - he had the same thought!!  It is great!

Honestly, today I'm listening to GLEE music from this week (their rendition of Ke$ha Tik Tok is amazing!)  But a few weeks ago, I was really into this hymn.  It's an ancient Georgian (yes, Georgian as in the country, not Gregorian) chant.  I think Georgian music is the best kept secret from Western musicians.  Their music is ancient, as Georgia was one of the earliest Christian nations (2nd, I believe).  Here's the link:

Both of those are on my "Favorites" playlist...but Lead Me is one of top 5 from the last year.  I absolutely LOVED it when it would come on when FI and I would be in the car together and he would sing it.  Makes me melt.

Edited for redundancy.  I need sleep.

echo- Mercy Me is my fave! FI and I went to their concert in the fall and it was amazing! I can't wait until they come back here again!

So my inspiration is, of course, Mercy Me... anything by them, but let's go with two oldies today- first, for fun- So Long Self:

and, one of my faves- Here With Me:

Also, not Mercy Me related, BUT... I have been loving this song lately- Sing by Josh Wilson:

Wow, some great songs!!!!  Thanks for posting!  I'll have music for my planning period tomorrow, woot woot!

Okay and on Glee... I'm IN LOVE with "Don't Stop Believin"  I'm pretty much obsessed with their version of it.  Among other things.  Oh, and thank you Glee, and American Idol, because this music teacher appreciates that students are signing up for music classes again, even if their motives aren't pure... haha!

I love Addison Road. Not really any specific song, but just them in general. "What Do I Know of Holy" was my heart's cry for a few months on end. Every time I heard it I was brought to my knees.

"What Love Really Means" by JJ Heller makes me sad and then happy every single time I hear it.

As far as worship goes I love "Our God" and "I Will Follow" by Chris Tomlin. And then "How He Loves" by David Crowder Band has a special place in my heart.

    I'm going to stop now...lol.

ahhh...Monica!!  I have y'alls version of "Here is Love!!!!!"  LOVE it!  Our Campus Praise Band started playing it last semester, and yours was the only good one I could find on iTunes.

Also, our Campus Praise Band has two live albums on iTunes, featuring 6 originals between the two.

    Uncover: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/uncover/id273687257
    One: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/one/id350218078

"Uncover" was recorded during a special praise & worship service in May 2007, and we knew they were recording the album.

"One" is a compliation of Campus Church worship sessions from Spring & Fall 2009.  "At the Cross" is from the Easter Communion Service.  It's incredible.  We had no idea they were recording during that time for the album.

I wish our college chapel band had stuff online that I could share with you guys.  That was my favorite.  They were amazing (I'm sure they still are, I just don't hear them anymore).  I have a CD around here somewhere, I think it's still packed from the move, that is my favorite worship cd that they recorded my freshman year of college.
