Hawaii beach wedding...

Hello-

Has anyone gotten married on a beach in Maui and can send me some recommendations?  Ultimately my fiance and I would love to have our ceremony on a beach and would love to have dinner/reception on a beach as well.  Does anyone know of any beaches that can accomodate that if possible?  Our wedding is going to be very small an intimate no more than 20 people for this October.

Any help would be AWESOME!!

THANKS!

Re: Hawaii beach wedding...

  • Hello :) Are you looking for West or South Maui, that makes a difference for your planning. Did you hire a photgrpaher yet? If not I can let you know who I went with. The photgrpahe comes with a wedding planner, so if youre planning soemthign small and very simple I'd recommend this company I'm using. I'm also getting married in Octobr and having a small beach wedding with dinner after at a restarant :) Whats your date in October?
  • Welcome!  Do you really mean on the beach?  Or do you mean right next to the water?  A beach ceremony is quite common on the board, and 20 isn't too large.  However, all beaches in Maui are public, and structures (including chairs) are not allowed.  This would mean a beach wedding would require that all of your guests stand for the ceremony.  The same applies for dinner, but there are plenty of great dinner options that let you be very close to the water with a stunning view.  Depending on your budget, Mama's Fish House, 5 Palms, etc are popular, but if you can share more about your vision for dinner, that helps.  Also, instead of going to a restaurant, other brides rent seaside venues (usually grass) for ceremonies & receptions which gets more expensive in terms of bringing in all your own vendors & chairs, but gives you a lot more flexibility in feel / style / look.  Olowalu is the most popular private estate on this board.

[QUOTE]Congratulations to you! :)  We are thinking October 18th which falls on a Thursday.  I am thinking West Maui.  I have a great photographer in mind but any other sugestions would be GREAT!  what restauart did you decide on?  Initially I wanted to do Mama's, but they are completely booked and then looked at Merrimans but still not 100% sure yet..   n Response to Re: Hawaii beach wedding... :

That's so funny, mine is October 18th. Are wedding dinner will be at 5 palms in south Maui. We are getting married right on the beach, we have narrowed it down to 2 but can't decide. I guess I can not suggest my photgrapher since she will be busy that night! So funny :) we initially were looking west side and my favorite beach was ironwoods. It's the least crowded according to many of the planning sites. It can be windy but its beautiful. I posted a video I found online on these boards if you want to look.
  • Welcome! We are marrying on the beach the week before you and having about 20 guests, but will be on the South Side. Our actual wedding ceremony is on the beach first thing in the morning with the reception just up the hill at Gannon's. I have been told a 5 min. drive. They have beautiful views and elegance. I am not sure about simple. You do not have to book packages with them so when viewing their website keep this in mind. We have pretty much desiged our reception by ourselves and they have been very accomdating.
If you are looking for pictures for different ceremony locations or restaruants just search. That is how we found Gannon's.

[QUOTE]Oh nice! I went ahead and booked Sarento's for our reception dinner.  Now I need to find a beach ceremony site that is close by.  Yes I would definitely like to see the video if possible.  Thanks!  In Response to Re: Hawaii beach wedding... :

Are you doing south side now instead of west? I believe the only sorentos is on the south. What time will you be doing ceremony? Morning or sunset? We did finally decide on our beach! It took forever. When you decide let me know so we'll know if it's the same. I'd like to avoid the same beach which I know is so hard but at least we found each other and know we're the same date! Lucky! Yours is 2012 right? Have you decided on anything else like cake or bouquet?

<div>I am staying at the Napili Kai Resort in West Maui in September and they have some really nice venues just off the beach where you can have chairs and such, because you can't have anything really on the beach. But they are right off the beach where if you wanted you can do a beach wedding and then use their cafe to cater the reception or do an outdoor reception on their bluff that accomodates chairs and such. Here is their flyer for wedding info: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.napilikai.com/media/docs/Wedding_Information.pdf">http://www.napilikai.com/media/docs/Wedding_Information.pdf</a></div><div>Hope this helps.</div><div>
</div><div>I highly recommend a wedding coordinator, they're very helpful! Especially with Marriage licensing and if you do a beach wedding you need a land use permit. </div>
