  The biggest thing that I can think of - ask if you can come and listen to them "play" somewhere.  That way you get a feel of how they "control" the room, and the type of songs they play on a regular basis.  I know January isn't a big month for a lot of DJ's, but you may be able to go one friday/saturday night to someone's dance and just listen to them play a bit.
  
  Also, ask if lighting and dinner music are included in their package... some places don't tell you they aren't.
  
  Just be yourself - just make sure their personality machtes with you and your FI.

  I would discuss what their typical "sets" look like. When we met with ours, he said that they move through the decades, starting with older stuff for the parents/grandparents, disco/70s, 80s & 90s, and current Top 40. It was nice knowing for us too that we could be flexible with that, as we wanted to minimize the disco/70s, and they made note of that.
  
  Our DJ also offers a website where our guests can go on and request songs, and then we review the list with him before the wedding, which is nice.

  Make sure you ask what he/she will be wearing that night? I have been to weddings where the djs are in suits and others where they where so dressed down I would have cried one had a Hawaiian shirt on and it was in no was a hawaiian wedding.

  Everything PPs have said plus:

  Will they emcee or do you need to have someone else do that

  Do you have to pay for the time they set up and tear down? (most of the DJ's I've seen/talked to do set up on their time.  You pay from when you/guests arrive and they are expected to start playing to when you end)

  Do they require breaks and what music will play during those if applicable

  Do they charge for travel/parking

  Cost for going over

  Play during cocktail hour? ceremony?  Is there an additional fee or a discount?

  If you have certain songs that you know you absolutely want played, make sure they have them or can get them especially if its a cover or a different version/artist than most people know

  Do they require a meal

  backup equipment?

  what happens if they're sick day of?
