What are you reading?

Give me titles and authors. I finished The Help in less than a week and I need something else to busy my mind with.

Have you checked out the Nest Book Club? Those girls have great suggestions and do a book a month (although there are plenty of girls who read whatever and post about it). I'll be reading the September book with the Nesties (they're great). Currently, though, I'm reading textbooks, lol. Hope you find something good!

"Fields of Grace" by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Also, if you like Historical Fiction, check out Francine Rivers' books.  Redeeming Love (based on Hosea, set in 19th Century western US) and the Mark of the Lion series (set in 70AD Jerusalem and Rome) are amazing.

Her Lineage of Grace series is based on the lives of Rahab, Tamar, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary (mother of Jesus).

agape, I can barely read fiction anymore, too. Not sure why. I eased myself into some a few weeks ago with some short stories about my profession. Then those 200,000 pages landed on my Nook. Ha! I'm hoping to read soon the novel my future husband gave me for Christmas.

</div><div>My H read this on our honeymoon and he finished it before the week was over... and he only read it on the plane ride, while sitting on the beach or at the pool and once or twice for a few minutes in the room. He loved it! He liked it so much that he bought a couple copies to give to other people (the one he read was given to him by his best man). I never read it, though. </div>

Mere Christianity is a great book! I loved it.
I am currently reading Radical by David Platt. It's probably one of my favorite Christian books because it speaks so much truth. It's like it says everything I've been thinking for a while. It's actually a book I have to read for my World Missions & Evangelism class this semester....one of the reasons I love going to Bible College!

Too bad you aren't closer!  DH works for a book company and gets so many free books - we have a ton of them.  And the worst part, I don't read that much.

I've been wanting to read "Radical" by David Platt.  A book that I have that I want to read is "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" and I also want to read is "Life In a Jar":

DH and I gave my baby sister one of our copies of Mere Christianity to take home with her after she became a Christian a few weeks ago. I want to read through it "with" her. :)

Love Mere Christianity.  One of the best books ever.  I'm also a big fan of other C.S. Lewis works, including Four Loves and Screwtape Letters.

Right now, I am reading law school preparation books.  Kind of boring and lame, but necessary.  They actually have books on how to think about the law and takes exams, as many students are totally clueless going in and there's a brutal curve.

That is a great idea! It really goes through the fundamental truths of what being a Christian really means.

I'm near the end of book 3 of the Hunger Games Trilogy. I kept hearing about these books and decided to read them without knowing what they are about. Needless to say. I've read 800 pages in just a couple of short days. They are addicting.

I have a slight reading addiction :)  Recently I've been reading books by Tamera Alexander - they are historical fiction set in 1870's Colorado and are good light reads.

If you're looking for a more thought-provoking read, I would recommend The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.  It is a biography of sorts about a woman who's cancer cells  became a cell line used widely in science today, and her family who didn't necessarily give permission for the tissue sample to  be taken.  It's very well written and deals with both sides very well.

Is it the newest one?  I haven't read any of her books in a few years, but I get weekly emails with her articles.

    Anna Karenina by Tolstoy
Lady Chatterley's Lover by D. H. Lawrence.  I wanted to see why so many people wanted it banned, but it's not something I'd recommend.
Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner.  Not loving it, but I'm reading it for book club.  The other girls in my group really liked it though.

</div><div>Yes, Demonic is her newest book, it just came out this past June. I have read Guilty and Godless, and I check her website every Wednesday or Thursday when her new articles come out, but I haven't read too much else. I may have to read "How To Talk To A Liberal (If You Must)" next. I find her writing incredible accurate and hilarious.

I'm reading "Commencement" by J. Courtney Sullivan. I really like it so far.

I have been trying to get my hands on a copy of "The Help" but all three of my local Borders locations have been sold out of it for weeks....and I don't have cash to burn until the 8th. The library has a waiting list of THIRTY SIX for it at the moment.

    It must be that good!

It is. I think the movie has fueled it's popularity, but it is a good read.
