DJ Suggestions?

Looking for an affordable DJ for a reception in Lancaster, PA. Would like mostly top 40 stuff but overall a mix for all of the guests. I really don't want anyone too cheesy. Any suggestions??

Re: DJ Suggestions?

  • We're using Soundwave DJs -- the owner Fred is really incredible. He listens to what we want, asks us questions about details we hadn't even considered just to make sure all the bases are covered, and is just helpful in general. He has some of the best prices I'VE personally found, and also has won a bunch of awards. Check out his website http://soundwavedjs.net/. We haven't actually had our wedding yet lol but I'll be sure to post a review when we do!

  • We love our DJ, Matt Haines with Mixed Impressions DJs. We just had our merting with him to finalize our wedding plans and he is great. Not only is he reasonably priced, but he is there for YOU. He will even ask you what you want him to wear. He really knows what he is talking about and I've seen him in action at a friend's wedding. Check him out! We paid $500 for him ($100 deposit, balance is $400). That was when we booked him in 2010.

  • We used Kent Wissinger- he was awesome. Played great stuff and didn't try to be in the spotlight.

  • Definitely Adam McCallister from York. He is my DJ for my wedding here in Lancaster.
He's amazing. Very down to earth, knows all the top songs to get people dancing, will be as active as you want or will blend into the background.
He is very affordable and even has a very inexpensive add on light package for uplighting and decor lighting.

  • I'm jealous of all of you guys with good  DJs. We had the most difficult time finding a DJ for October 13th, and eventually my fiance talked me into using a guy he works with (DJ Cool LA??).  He sounds like a club DJ but apparently does a ton of weddings and events.  We met with him, and he was affordable, and will do whatever we want. DJ isn't a top priority for me because we dont' have a big dancing crowd, so I just need a good MC and someone who will keep the music on.

He finally gave my fiance a copy of the countersigned contract today (we signed it in February) and told him "sorry man, my life's been a little upside down lately".  Ok - not instilling confidence in me!!!!

Adam McCallister was my first choice, I know him through covering the Revs here in York -- but he was already book.  Top Hat Entertainment was my second choice -- I've been to several weddings where Roger was DJ and he comes highly recommended through my venue -- but he was booked too.  All the DJs that were available are the $1300+/4 hour guys, which I think is insane.

So -- definitely interview DJs early and book early!

I'm using Adam Moyer of Silver Sound, which is located more towards Philly. But he isn't charging a travel fee. He's very easy to deal with, and he charges about $800 for my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception (5 hours).

  • Top 3 in my book: DJ Freez, Mixed Up Productions, DJ Klock

Also on the list: Burning Spear, G2 DJ's
  • What would you consider a good price for a DJ?  I am using one from Delaware.  A father/son duo who will sing and DJ.  They play/sing whatever you want.
