Normal cost for a CD of photos

Our possible photographer is charging $1300.00 for our photography, which includes a 20 page album, 5 hours day of wedding, $150.00 print credit an 8x10 or 2 5x7's, she also said if we want our images on a CD it would be $800.00 for that. Is this charge typical?

That charge is actually quite standard. Expect anywhere from $500 and upwards from most legit professional photographers. Keep in mind you are not just purchasing a cd, you are also purchasing usage/reprint rights as well. After all what good is a cd of images if you can't do anything with them.
Some photographers just choose not to include it standard in their package, but i can guarentee you that if you are purchaseing a package that includes a disc of images and rights, you are most definitely paying for the image usage rights somewhere in the breakdown of the package.

We're paying $2700 for our package and our cd is $250.  But, with our package we get $300 towards their products which we're going to spend on the cd.  So really you are paying $2100 for photography.  I feel like you could get a better photographer for that price that includes the cd.  It's up to you though; if you really like your photographer and it's worth it to you then do it:)

    $1300 for 5 hours
    $150 credit towards print photographs
    then a 20 page album

Thats an excellent price if they are a good quality photographer.

The $800 is paying for some of their loss on print sales. Some questions to think about... How long will they host the proofs online? How many prints will you need or be giving away to family & friends? I would add it up and look at the difference. It also depends on how badly you want the rights. If you really want all the images (this includes the photographers time spent in editing & perfecting them... it's their craft remember) then it is well worth the expense.

    Congratulations! & best to you,

Thanks for everyones opinon! I should have mentioned that her normal price for the package we are receiving is $2000.00 However I modeled for her back when she was in an intense photographer school so she gave me a good deal. She is an amazing photographer! Thanks so much!
