Shoe Ideas?

I am totally lost for shoes!  I am 6'1 and FI is 6 feet and is already a little crabby if I wear heels and I am taller than him. So I don't want a big heel. I HATE ballet flats and my mom threw a massive fit when I said I was going to wear a nice pair of flip flops ( were having an outdoor wedding). OH I am also a size 12 and can't just go into any store for a pair of shoes. So I guess my question is HELP!  okay so that isn't a question lol  But does anyone have any ideas on what I could do ?

Re: Shoe Ideas?

  • I can't relate on the shoes specifically, but if it were me I would care more about what my husband thinks on our wedding day than what my mom thinks. Maybe a sparkly pair of flats? Toms makes a few glitter pairs i am wearing these to my reception, or just go with flip flops you could always dress them up like you orginally planned.
  • I am a big pleaser with all of this. She is my mom, my best friend, and I do care what  FI thinks that is why I don't want large heels.  Thank you for the Toms suggestion I have actually looked at them and not really my style.  I HATE SHOES lol

  • I just bought a pretty casual pair of flats from Payless after lusting over many a gorgeous pair of designer flats online.  I had bought and sent several uncomfortable ones back.  I'm 5'11" so can relate to the height issue (plus my dress was off the rack and perfect as long as I had zero height on the heel).  My dear FI is very much looking forward to wearing cowboy boots with his tux and I'm looking forward to his extra inch or so in pictures (I've always been a bit self conscious of my height).  I do recognize, however, that cowboy boots are probably only an acceptable solution in this part of the world : )
  • Sorry, missed the part about not liking flats.  During my searching I've found some pretty beautiful sandals that may serve as a compromise for flip flops with your mom!  Here's one idea!

  • I went to Zappos, and did a search with these limits: size 12; wedding; silver, white, or bone color, and 1"-1 1/2" heel (sorry, no flats came up above size 12).  Here's what I came up with. Perhaps you could go with one that just has a one-inch heel (a compromise with FI) and is a sandal but a bit dressier than a flip-flop (a compromise with mom).

I'm a size 10 shoe, also don't want a big heel, and generally hate shopping for shoes, so I feel your pain.  And I'm wearing filp flops for my reception :)

Thank you ladies. I forgot all about Zappos!   I did tell her I don't care after ceromoney, pictures and first dance I AM WEARING flip flops!   My FI calls me the his Flip Flop wearing weirdo lol. I practically collect them I have about 20 pairs every summer and only wear them for one summer. I am just weird like that and extreamly OCD about them.
I love the sandles from nordstrom those will match perfectly with my bridal shower dress that was another pair of shoes I was dreading looking for. Thank you!

  • Tory Burch has dressy, beautiful sandals.
  • It's a shame those shoes on zappos are so expensive.

I'm in the exact same boat at the OP, 6'1, size 12 foot, dress just hits the floor, FI is just a hair taller than me.  I'm planning on getting some cute flats or a tiny wedge from payless or something.  But they also have some decent wedding shoes, some with low heels, that you can get in a size 12.
  • Sometimes 6pm.com or bluefly.com or piperlime.com have great deals on shoes. FH and I both got great wedding shoes at about half off the department store prices. And they're the real thing.

  • Ive been ordering from endless.com just return w/in 30 days and free shipping both ways. I have seen some larger sizes. Im an 11 for the most part and looking for small heels (bad back).

I just bought these and they have potential for wedding dress for not too dressy...I fit into a 10.5 i got the silver 1/2 inch rubber heel.

I had ordered these and sent them back. They are fun small wedge but the nude is a little more light pink. (Hence why i sent back, hate pink) They only go up to an 11, but when i ordered i did fit in a 10 so they may on the bigger size.

Hope some of this helps. I love shoes just wish i could find what im looking for.
