i have mild acne and the wedding is 21 days away

Hey guys,

I suffer from mild acne and I am worried about my wedding day. Do you think a professional will be able to cover up my acne for the wedding?

I have been using a lot of different methods to get rid of my acne completely, but unfortunately it never completely goes away.

  • Clarisonic Mia, Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel... the only 2 things that have worked for my mild acne. You still have time to see results.

  • Even for mild acne, usually a dermatologist can get your skin where you need it to be. I would highly recommend going to see one.
  • Problem is my dermatologist doesn't have anything open for a month.
  • A pro makeup artist should ABSOLUTELY be able to cover up mild acne.

Have you scheduled a makeup trial?  That should ease your concerns (:
  • Did you explain to your derm that you are getting married soon? My dr told me that I can come by anytime with no apt needed and she can give me a cortisone shot to get rid of the zit ASAP. If your dr isn't able to help you then find someone who will.

  • But a cortisone shot isn't appropriate for mild acne. Cortisone shots are for nodular or cystic acne.

I have mild acne, too. I think I even had a zit or two for the wedding. Between my makeup artist and photographer I can't tell! Check my siggy picture. Normally my cheeks are blotchy red from the acne and my chin is scar and zit ridden. My forehead's not completely smooth, either. My makeup artist did a wonderful job, though, and covered all of that up.

  • Try to adjust your diet.  I am not a doctor but what I have noticed with friends and my fiance is that certain kind of food affects their skin.
For instance, avoid dairy, peanuts, hot or spicy food, red wine.
Whenever my fiance has dairy, on the next day he has something on his face, same happens to some other friends.
Doctors refuse to accept that food has something todo with acne but it does.

    Good Luck!
  • If it's a next day thing, it's probably a coincidence.  Pimples take more than just overnight to develop.  They're developing in the pores, below the skin, long before you can see them.  The dairy might be a catalyst that brings them to the surface, but it would have come out eventually anyway.

  • I only know a few tricks, but be sure to try them now, and not the day of! Tea Tree Oil, it dries up zits really well.  Use moisturizer, or just make sure your face doesn't dry out, it could help, and a little quick fix is actually Visine eye drops... Yeah its for your eyes, but it does the same to your zits by reducing the redness and which reduces the visibility of your pimples!

  • Try the Mary Kay Acne fighter set. or simply the acne gel and Micro Dermabrasion. Same ingredients as the salon but way better price. I used proactive until I stqarted selling Mary Kay and I have the best skin of my life, seriously.
Personally I use the miracle set with microdermabrasion and acne treatment gel for the occasional break out.

look at it and order online. I'll offer you 10% off as a wedding gift :)

    shipping is free
  • Maybe check with your regular doc too. My acne is pretty consistent in that I have redness, spots from before, and new small ones pop up. My face is better since trying some antibiotics thru my regular doc. Have you tried antibiotics? That's what I'm using now...better, but not a forever solution. Also, for makeup, airbrushing might be a good coverup. I plan on getting that done as a trial first then if that goes well, for my wedding day also.

  • I've suffered from mild acne all of my adult life.  Most acne products are geared for teenagers, and dry your skin out more and more and more, which is the opposite of what you need to do for adult skin.

Your skin is producing sebum (oil), which is what the bacteria that causes acne is eating.  The more teenager product you use to dry your face, the more oil your face produces, the more bacteria proliferates.  It's a vicious cycle.  It's even worse because all the adult moisturizers are so full of oil that they cause acne apocolypse in .02 seconds.

I was caught in this cycle until one day a lovely lady giving me a facial told me about a Neutragina facial lotion without oils, and with acne-fighting product in it.  WIthin 2 weeks, my face stopped breaking out!  OMG that lady is an angel in my book

Try it, it'll change your life.  And your makeup artist can take care of any stragglers.

  • I have suffered from moderate acne for years!  After trying to work with a derm, and then having an allergic reaction to meds that were supposed to clear it up, I broke down and tried ProActive.  It really has helped.  If you don't have the time to order ProActive, there is another products (I found it at WalGreens for about the same price) called AcneFree (it's in an orange package).
Just a couple of other things... don't sleep in make up (I know, but I had to say it).  Also, on youtube, there is a channel called DiamondsAndHeels14.  This lady has severe acne and covers it up beautifully (she actually works as a model).  Her tips are so easy to follow that I went from worrying about trying to find a make-up artist to doing my own make-up for my wedding.
Good luck, and we all know you will look perfect for your wedding!
  • Try Paula's Choice.  I have suffered with mild to severe acne and incredibly senstive skin my ENTIRE life.  Even the dermatologist couldn't help.  I started Paula's Choice about a two months ago and my pores are tiny, skin hasn't broken out yet, and someone even told me I am glowing.  I've stopped wearing makeup too, because my skin is just that good.  You have to give it a try.
