Seaview sold to Stockon

I'm not sure how many ladies are booked with Seaview or have been looking at it, but  Stockton College has entered a sales agreement with the owners of Seaview. According to this article, they'll continue to have Dolce as management and continue to do weddings.

While this really doesn't effect my wedding, as the deal isn't closed yet, I wanted to let other brides know.

easily...they've had fund set aside for this for years, they just wanted to find the right thing to spend it on.  Honestly, while it seems stressful to you guys and I would be pissed too, it really is a GOOD thing for Stockton.  The school should have a larger Hotel, Restaurant and Management major/school but they don't.  This area survives on those who major in that and this is a GREAT thing for them to have this  and be able to expand their school/teachings to actual on-site class work.  Like I said in a previous post, I went to the University of Delaware, who built a Marriot for the sole purpose of our HRIM major taking off and now students run the entire hotel, they cook, host, serve and work in the really espensive restaurant on campus, and everyone says they love how good of a job they're doing.

Personally, I think them converting some of the hotel rooms into dorms is bad idea, but whatever.  I hope you girls are not really gonna be too affected by this, but I think it's a great thing.  If i was you, I might not and do agree you have a right to be stressed!

That is a very stressful thing... my reception venue got sold about 5 months before my wedding. It was very stressful, and even though they ended up doing a great job on my event, I heard that they just got evicted for not paying their rent.  : (  I feel awful for any brides that may affect, I know what it would have done to me if it happened a month earlier. : (  But the good thing about Stockton taking over is that things should still go through.  You won't have to worry about them getting in over their head's and closing it.  I know it kinda sucks that things may be run by students, but remember, those students will be superivsed by people who know what they are doing and have high standards... so I am sure things will still be great, especially if they are still using the same company, as jaslugo said...

its a good thing for stockton but not a good thing for seaview.  They are going to lose all of their future weddings.  would you want to have you wedding and have your guests stay in what essentially is a college dorm room.

Not to mention the effec this is going to have on the state and local tax structure.  As a state college, it is a non profit organization.  therefore, they are tax exempt.  This means no state income tax and no local property tax.

Most people in the town are going to end up foreclosing on their homes because of the property taxes being jacked up to cover the money that the town will not be receiving from seaview.

Not to mention that Stockton will no doubt get rid of one of the golf courses and it will essentially become a college campus.  They want it for the land, not as they are selling it to become a "learning" hotel.

Would you pay over $100 a head to have your wedding at a "learning" hotel?  There is absolutely no way i would have booked seaview with this pending sale, and if my wedding was in the spring i would cancel it now.  The article states that they are transforming half of the hotel into dorms starting next year......doesnt sound like a country club to me....

Like i said i wont be effected and thank god for that, but people dont realize the long term effects this is going to have.

Hmmm... not sure this affects anything.  I have about 20 rooms booked at the Seaview for October 2nd of this year.  I think the personnel of the hotel would let us know of any dramatic changes. I also found out that our venue for the wedding (The Noyes Museum) has also been purchased by Stockton. I'm not sweating it, as it's something I can do absolutely NOTHING about at this point. Invitations/hotel directions have been sent, deposits are in, plans are made.  I'm sure it'll be fine.
