Keeping in touch with vendors?

I guess I have kind of a weird question but just curious about everyone else. I booked most of my major vendors (photog, videog, DJ, caterer, cake, etc) back in May of this year and really haven't spoken to any of them since. Should I be keeping in touch with them? Or is it normal to not talk to them if there is no reason to?

    I think it's normal not to talk to them.  I've talked to my florist to change a few things and his shop is down the street from me, so sometimes I stop in on a Friday to see his wedding arrangements for the weekend (super fun to do!).  I only talked to my photographer to do the engagement pics.  I haven't talked to our DJ or baker.  I've been in touch with the venue because we started our "planning meetings" with our assigned coordinator.  The officiant is suppose to be in contact with us next month to collect the questionnaires we filled out.

    I haven't talked to some of my vendors since Feb or March when I booked them. I'm planning on calling everyone by early March to make sure everything is still good and give me time to adjust if it isn't.

    Though I think its normal that you havent spoken with your vendors, I would just reach out and say something to make sure they haven't disappeared off the planet. LOL. Something like this:

     "we're moving along in the planning process and I should have your questionnaire filled out by x___. I'm sure holiday season is coming up and you'll be busy, so if I dont speak to you before then, have a happy Holiday Season!"

    When they reply, it will put your mind at ease and you can follow up with them after the New Year. With how long ago its been since you booked them, I'd want to personally reach back out to know they still exist. :D

    I have spoken to my photographer off and on but only regarding engagement pictures. I did double check my date with DJ just because he sounded iffy when I booked him in April. I will also be in touch with the caterer (hopefully soon) to sign the contract once I give her a tentative day-of schedule. I think it's important to touch base with any vendor with which you have any kind of doubts on their reliability. It doesn't hurt to send them a quick e-mail just to see if there is anything they need from you at this time-even if the real reason is that you need some peace of mind : )
