Unique Venues in Hartford

Can anyone recommend some unique venues in the Hartford area? I'm scouting venues remotely from NYC and the only things I'm finding online are banquet hall-type venues. We'd like someplace a little more personal and unique. Thanks!

I'd definitely recommend the Society Room in Hartford if you are looking for a dramatic, unique venue!

for a ceremony, check out the Old State House. i just went to a ceremony there...it was very cool! http://www.ctosh.org/rentals.asp

for a reception:

the Boathouse: http://www.riverfront.org/boathouse/weddings_and_special_events/

the Bond Ballroom: http://www.bondballroom.com/ (not as "typical venue" as you would think...it has AMAZING views of the city at night!)

Apricots in Farmington: http://www.apricotsrestaurant.com/ (but it's small...)

or there are 2 boats that cruise up and down the CT river that you can rent...the Hartford Belle (http://www.hartfordbelle.com/charters.htm) and the Lady Katharine (http://ladykatecruises.com/special_events.html)

also, how far from Hartford are you willing to go? There are some cool vineyards and farms and such, but you're probably looking at 30-60 minutes from Hartford...

If FI and I were getting married in CT- we would've picked Hartford's Old State House.

What's your budget? How many people are you looking to invite? If a lot of your guests are from OOT, you may want to consider parking... which isn't so easy in the city.
