Sounds like a fun holiday. Some hotels will let you bring dogs too. I think there is a website for pet friendly hotels. If you didnt want to board them that is. I dont think that would be an option for us with Oscar. We would end up having to buy everything in the room because I'm sure he would destroy it
  • edited December 2011
I looked up the hotels.  Chepaer to take them with us.  Ummmmm,  we decided against the whole thing.  I crunched numbers and it's going to cost $1000!!  Yea, a little too much for the trip.  That is only the room and lft tickets for 2 days.  :(  We're gonna stay local and snowboard out here.

That is alot for 2 days! Probably because it's a holiday so they raise their prices

if we weren't plannign to go to Hawaii next year then maybe it wouldn't be so bad spending the $ on this trip.  Speaking of that now I can't wait til next summer!

I wish we could go on vacation. I can finally take vacation at the beginning of next year because of the new job, but by them DH will be gone all the time for his work up to deploy. He deploys in July so it doesn't look like we will get our dream vacation for 2010 either.
Oh well though, I guess it is better that way because when he gets back we will have tons of extra money we can plan an AWESOME vacation for all the ones we couldn't go on. If I get pregnant within the next months we will have to make it a kid friendly though...

Seriously Kas! Thats why we have to start budgeting now otherwise our only trip would be down to the DQ for a dippy cone
  • edited December 2011
LOL amber a dippy cone! Where in the carribean are you thinking of?

Kasi we took our older dog to mammoth.. she was unsure about the snow but I got her a big coat and she was so cute.

We are hopefully going on a couple trips too. So far we have mammoth planned for january, napa for my bday in february and *crossing fingers* italy in may. It's going to be a busy travel year.. there are a few places we want to go before we even think of having a baby and italy is one of them.. so we could cross that off the list ;)
  • edited December 2011
Jojo- We havent even started looking at the different islands yet. We have talked about Jamaica, Barbados and a couple of others. Italy is on our list too for where we want to go before we starting trying for little ones.

We're stuck with Hawaii.  We have a trial timeshare and we need to use it next year before it expires (will not be buying a full one!).  I mentioned wine country to Andrew for my bday too.  Not sure if I want to do that or stick to Vegas.  I want to eventually go back to NY and visit family and take Andrew to see where I was born and where my peeps are from.  Maybe that will be my bday thing. So far all we have is Hawaii set in stone and something for my bday just not sure what.

LOL Amber, dippy cone!  Ooh, the carribean or Italy!  I WISH!  Can't do any of that until we use up our timeshare.  If we get cheap flights then maybe we can save the rest of the $ in our travel account for one of those in 2011.  Unfortunately we only have 1 week of vacation or I'd do that next year too!

We almost almost went to jamaica for part of our honeymoon, but I did research and it sounded more like a group trip type of place--only because I am such a scaredy cat. Our neighbors went and they said there were all these traffic stops with cops that were carrying huge guns and it was really sketch. But I hear once you are at your resort and stay there you are fine. BUT I get scared easily.

Anywhere in the carribean would be awesome! I love love love the water there.. it is so perfect.

We are going to vegas this weekend and I am so excited!
  • edited December 2011
What are you doing in Vegas?  Have you been to a show down there?  If I go for my bday I want to go to a show.  i told Andrew we could go to a burlesque one!  hehee

Kasi if I had to pick between Napa or Vegas for a bday trip I would totally pick Napa. My best bday trip ever was to Napa. Its so pretty and romantic and ends up costing just as much as Vegas.
  • edited December 2011
Napa is one of my favorite places, so I always vote for Napa.

My FIL is really nice to his employees and takes them to vegas for a weekend for their christmas party every year. They play games out there and give cash for prizes. I never had a boss like that! It's nice because we get a free hotel room :) we are staying at the new casino, the M.. I think it's called?

Ooh, I used to haeva  job like that.  The whole company went to Vegas and they paid for our rooms.  We had a slots tournament and everyone won money.  During summer they did a company picnic where they gave away trips, dvd players, tv.s etc.  It was awesome.  And now I don;t work there!  ahaha

As for Napa, I've never been.  Guess I should look it up and get ideas of what to do.  How long is the drive?  or is flying better?

I prefer to fly but then you can't bring as much wine back with you without having to pay to check it. Southwest has the best flight prices to Napa. last time we went I think our tickets were $99 each which is great.

Driving is nice too because then you don't have to rent a car but its about an 8-9 hour drive. We went over a holiday weekend and it took us 11 hours to get back. After that we said we would never drive there again.
  • edited December 2011
OK, so I have some things to ponder now.  Napa or Vegas....
    $99 is a great price!

Usually, when we book 14 days in advance we get tickets for $59 (sometimes $79, but we are pretty flexible on our times). About a month ago southwest did a special and we got each way to napa for $29 for my birthday this feb.. which is the cheapest we have ever gotten it. I posted the special on FB at the time.
  • edited December 2011
Amber, are you racking up points with southwest? We flew to NY free last year with southwest points (we'll never take SW that far ever again), so I hope you are saving them! :)

I havent checked my Southwest points lately but I should. I usually try to fly Alaska for miles but going to Napa is just so much cheaper with Southwest. Last year I ended up with 2 free roundtrip tickets with Alaska.
  • edited December 2011
Oh yea, I keep getting emails for cheap flights.  The last one was yeasterday and they were as low as $18 each way.  Travel is for Jan-Mar I think.  Duh, I need to check that out to buy tickets.  I don't think I've flown SW.  I LOVE Delta!
