Show me your arch ideas!

We are having an arch, but I'm kind of at a loss of how to decorate it. We have a very, very small flower budget so it probably can't involve a lot of flowers.
Here is the arch. Not incredibly pretty the way it is right now!

And here are the pomanders I'm making for the aisles. The arch doesn't need to match or use them, just giving you a feel for our look:

So, any arch ideas/inspiration?

Re: Show me your arch ideas!

  • I am excited to see these ideas....FI is making one for us, but I just love wedding arches!!!
  • Ribbons!  Especially if it's outdoors and they'll blow gently in the breeze.  Use the same color ribbon that you're hanging the pomanders with.

What about just a fabric drop to cover the entire arch?  I saw something today on SMP that I thought looked really nice for how simple it was:

Maybe do something like that, and then pull back the fabric & tie it to the arch with rope ties for a bit of grandeur?

  • Thanks ladies-lots of good ideas! I'm going to run this post by FI & see if I can talk him into any of it. He says my ideas are "too girly" but um, what am I supposed to do, tie cans of PBR and poker chips on it? lol
  • Lol for "too girly"...

thats funny about the too girly thing. Most weddings are built around the views and visions of the girl. My fiance keeps telling everyone that he is giving me the wedding of my dreams not his, he just wants to be there.lol. its sweet actually. i love the draping of fabric that blows in the wind a little. very few flowers and wala'..you have a beautiful arch. good luck with the fi

My sister keeps asking me "he cares about that?" or "he wanted an opinion on your tablecloths?" because her husband wasn't involved at all. It's sweet he wants to be involved, but yes all weddings are built around the visions of the girl...thus it will be girly honey, sorry. <div>
</div><div>He already shot down the ribbons :( but he's open to fabric!</div>
  • If it's an evening wedding, I would twist white lights all over the arch and weave some sheer white fabric through it.

    Good luck!

I have seen silk flowers in arches and they look awesome. You don't really notice, since you don't get that close. I love the idea of the lights and fabric over them. Just make sure they are LED lights, so you don't melt the fabric.
