    That's kindof what I thought.  Here's what the actual teacher had to say, in an email to the 13yo's mother:


    <13yo> had Mardi Gras beads for everyone in homeroom this morning and wanted to give them to all of her classmates.  I was uneasy about handing these beads out due to negative connotations of Mardi Gras Beads.  I was uncertain on how to handle this with <13yo> and totally would not know how to explain this to her.  I told her that I forgot about them today and will deal with it tomorrow.  Could you please address this with her?  It is the thought that counts.

    We are all "WTF" about it. What an ignorant moron. 13yo will be heartbroken, btw.

    13 y/os are trading sexual favors on the bus and doing drugs. I think some beads are the least of this teacher's problems. Oh, and that she capitalized beads has me side-eyeing her.

    some of the people in the office are wearing beads today.  i suspected they got them by flashing each other.

    Mom played dumb and wrote back, "what negative connotation are you referring to?"  She is p i s s e d.  

    I never imagined that northerners immediately thought of tits when they saw beads.
