Wedding License Question

Did you have to provide a certified birth certificate when obtaining your license? I cannot find mine anywhere, and was not born in Polk County where we would be obtaining our marriage license. Thanks!

    Hey there,

We only needed our drivers licenses. =)

That's all they asked us for- Drivers Licenses and proof of marriage counseling if you want to take discount.  Also, I don't know if this is how it is for other counties, but we went to Seminole County (in Sanford) and they only take cash, so we had to leave, run around looking for an ATM and get back before they closed... SO I would call before and see if they take checks or cards, or make sure you get cash before you go. :)

FYI Orange County doesn't take Visa, unless that's changed since last spring.
I remember needing my birth certificate but that might have been just for when I had my passport issued since I got both within a few weeks of each other =X
If your parents still live in the city or county where you were born they can go to the courthouse or wherever their records are kept and request a copy as your parent and then mail it to you. I had my mama overnight mine so I could get it to the passport office in the six weeks needed to have it issued (seven weeks before my wedding - talk about cutting it close!)

Just noticed you're getting your license in Polk County - never mind about the Orange County anti-Visa thing, then :) Although I would think Visa would be accepted anywhere major credit cards are so that's probably worth checking into as well.
Also were you born in Florida? If so, you can go get your birth certificate there and have your license issued in the same county since Florida marriage licenses are able to be solemnized in any county in the state, regardless of where they were issued.
