December 2012 Weddings

Destination Wedding: Guatemala

Hello,
Has anybody had a wedding in Guatemala? If so, I would love any tips on what to do and not. I´m from California but living & working in Madrid: both families are from Guatemala. I´m finding it difficult to plan due to distance.
Any tips would be appreciated! Outdoor wedding on December 29, 2012.

Thank you,
Maria Lemus

I can also add that wedding service providers are good to verry good! We've worked Weddings in the US too and I came to appreciate my home country Guatemala after that! I have to say this tho. Make sure you are given the same prices as an local couple! If you're having a wedding planner service ask who your  providers will be and don't be afraid to ask on  prices own to the vendors  and compare!  You should be given the same one and well, your planner has a fee for the services. In some Hotels you  won't even  need a planner because they arrange everything for you, in Hotel venues they  manage the  reception schedule so you won't have to worry! They will even place the wedding favors inthe tables and many times this has a low price or its included!! If you  see a particular wedding vendor you like tell your  planner to manage it for you. Weddings in Guatemala don't have a prise season so its the same prises all year round, we've checked!! The only prices you'll expect going up in high tourist season is  hotels and travel expenses. Many people know at least a little english and it'll make it easier for you to  comunicate with your vendors.  Also don't tip your vendors! Local couples don't do it. Also if you have family in Guatemala, we don't  do the rsvp or the  seat placement or the save teh date thing so you can save on some stationary  and stamps! Do send the invite, of course!!

We have wedding services in Guatemala and we'll be happy to be a part of your special day !!  Our email is lareposteriaartistica@gmail.com
