Not Engaged Yet

How did you pick your date?

As far as I know, you have to pick a wedding date when you sign up for a knot account, right? Well, since most of us here are not engaged yet, how did you come up with a date to put there? And all you engaged and married folk, how did you guys come up with your date if you signed up before you were engaged? Or am I wrong and there's a way to skip that step?

When I went to change my status to engaged in there, I didn't have a wedding date. If I'm not mistaken when you register if you put yourself as the MOH or BM or something you don't have to choose a date. I think.

You could just put in a random date. Our wedding date is right in the middle of our birthdays. Mine is April 7, wedding was May 7, H's is June 7.
    I'm not good at feelings.

You can skip that part. You can just leave it blank and not choose anything for a date, groom, etc. I didn't realize that the first time I signed up. I also didn't realize you could sign up as something other than a bride.

When I made the first account I felt odd putting in my BF's name as a groom since we are nowhere near engaged. I actually put my cat's name since he has a human name, and it was the first one I thought of. BF and I joke that his last name is a silly mix of our last names, since we share responsibility for him but are not married. Then I picked the furthest date I could, which was like October 2014. I told BF, "Hey, according to the Knot, I'm getting married to Sebastian Lastname in 2014!" He thought it was funny.

Then I realized you could sign up as something else and leave all the fields blank. Now I am registered as an events planner/professional instead of a bride, and I don't have a groom or date.

Oh ok, well I was just kind of curious how everyone decided what date to put in. Like, if they picked just any random date in a random year or if they had a reason or a guess or whatever. It doesn't bother me having just a random date on my profile, I'm just curious how everyone came to pick theirs before actually knowing what date it will be I guess.

I just picked a random date that was spring time since I'd always liked the idea of a spring wedding and a year that was a couple years away since I knew I wasn't getting married too soon. This makes me think back to when I first signed up- I wasn't really BSC I just was browsing dresses when I was bored. Then when I came back that's when I was craaazy. Then I found NEY :)

When I signed up I put MOH, and they required me to put a date, which I though was stupid. So I put the date of the wedding I was going to be in on it.

Ok, I figured out how to change myself from "bride" to "other" but can't figure out how to get to the page where you change the "groom" and date.

I orginally just picked a fall month because we want to get married in the fall and I figured it'd be in a year or two so just went with that. And I signed on because we had started looking at rings, and I had been here years before and knew there was a lot of good info and suggestions from the people here and thought it'd be a good idea as we got closer to getting married.

I just put something random in.  When we actually got engaged, I went in and changed it to something close to when we wanted to get married.  And then once we booked our venue, I changed it again.

I'm pretty sure I just picked a random date that was pretty far in the future. I didn't think about it too much.

Me, too. And after my friend's wedding, TK bumped me over to the Nest, so I went back and just moved the year out from 2010 to 2011.

I thought we might be getting married in the fall, so I just chose 11-11-11, then went back in and changed it when we picked our date. I felt weird putting in a date.

Our wedding date ORIGINALLY was going to be May 15th 2011 - the date we ended up going with and a much smaller wedding as well , ended up being August 21st 2010. The date came about after just looking at the calendar and saying "Hey August seems like a good month fora  lake tahoe wedding - how about the 21st ? Cool we have a date" -

That's basically how it went lol !

I think I chose our sixth anniversary, which happens to fall on a Saturday. This might sound BSC, but I'd actually like to get married that day. It's just over 2 years away, so we'll see, but it likely won't happen.

I put something random in too. I ended up putting the last possible date they had available. I actually changed it fairly recently when I was updating and I changed it again to some absurdly far out date like Dec. 31 2015, or something.

IS there any way to change the groom? It totally weirds me out to see BFs name when I look at my bio. I mean, yeah, I want to marry him someday, but not any time soon :P

I just picked something a year out and in the fall because at the time that is when I wanted to get married.  It doesn't have any real significance.  I was annoyed I had to put a date in at all :(

I picked the year I'd -like- to get married, which is after I graduate from school and all that ish. The date was kind of like. "Oh, June, sounds nice...June whatever..." And then..I changed it to spring...and then I decided I was crazy for thinking about it too much, and I honestly don't know what the date is now.

I picked 12/31/2015 I think.  I didn't want to pick a random day or even think about when it might happen so I just made it the longest time away it would let me for now.

On my old account I put a completely random date a few years out. I didn't put much thought into it. I changed the groom's name to first name: ? and last name: ? because the bio page weirded me out, lol.  Then I realized I could sign up as something other than a bride so I signed up as "Other" when I made this account.

When I first signed up I just picked a random day and then once we got engaged I changed it.

We picked out wedding date because it was the soonest we could do and do the 'pre-marital counseling' that the church required. We weren't in a huge rush to get married but my mom's declining health dictated that we choose a date for sooner rather than later.

*pre-marital counseling is in quotes because I don't really consider it counseling so much as bible-thumping : /

I hear that, man. The guy I insist we use won't be doing that despite being an ordained minister. It's weird to me that the state of Tennessee states that you have to save premarital counseling to save like $60 on your wedding license. We're both Buddhist and afaik there aren't any Buddhist premarital counselors around here. Idgi, I just dgi.

When I made my account I picked a random date just cause I was bored and wanted to look at wedding dresses and the site wouldn't let me do that without an account. But recently I changed it to the date it is now, because that will be the three year anniversary date that my boyfriend and I first met in person and ideally the day I would like to marry him on since it means alot to both of us.
